Melissa

"Well, I believed I've caused you enough trouble," I told Samus. "I would stay to fix that giant void, but just call or text me if anything changes. Please, understand I didn't mean to-"

"It's fine," she assured. "We were growing apart anyway."

I gave her a hug. I picked up my bags and walked out of the mansion to where my parked spaceship was. "Bye, have fun for the remainder of your trip."

I started up the spaceship. I saw an odd looking nice grid in the sky. All of the sudden, it lit up. And made a loud noise. And I couldn't feel anything.

Samus

Melissa's spaceship hit a grid. It lit up and the spaceship exploded. The remains of the ship fell helplessly to the ground, and so did Melissa. I heard the flesh hit the hard ground. "Melissa!"

I ran over to her. She jolted as if she had been shocked but had bruises and bones at awkward angles as if she hit something solid. I picked up her wrist and felt for a pulse. There was no luck.

"Whoa, what the heck was that?" Caeda exclaimed as she ran outside of the mansion. Her eyes locked on Melissa.

"This is all..." my voice trailed off.

Caeda picked up a piece of paper off of the ground. "It's printed. It has words on it."

I grasped the paper in my sweaty palms.

Dear Smashers,

What you have done is not only a disgrace, but a virus that must be stopped. Thus, we cannot have you contaminating the entire world.
Prove to us that you're worth keeping. A little bit of coding will copy you and replace you. I warn you, you must stop. Think of the reputation you have built up? Can a clone mimic that? Do you really want to be stuck here?
We don't have to deal with you.
Good luck fighting the void.
You'll be done for in a week.

I was thoroughly stunned. Caeda read it. She then took a picture of it with her phone. "I sent it to everyone here and planned a meeting in the ball room in 30 minutes."

I still sat there, stunned. Melissa wasn't respawning. This was her end. I couldn't help but have a tear escape from my eye. Caeda hugged  me, while I was still frozen, kneeling on the ground. "It'll be okay, it'll be fine."

She continued comforting me. Soon, Zelda, Link, and Ike came outside. "You said it was urgent-" Zelda started, but soon went silent after seeing Melissa. The three of them just stared.

Zelda also joined the hug, also comforting me.

"Canon," I muttered.

"Come on," Caeda said. "We have to get to the assembly."

So I just walked with them.

Bring it on, canon.

Caeda

I stood up on the stage of the ball room. "Excuse me, everyone!" The ball room went silent.

Samus took the microphone. "The makers of this want to control us! They're threatening to wipe us out if we don't start following the rules of canon. Are we gonna listen? H*** no! Are we gonna cower down?"

The crowd screamed "NO!"

A smile faintly appeared on Samus' face. "Are we gonna let them dictate our every decision, choice, and move?"

"NO!"

Samus bowed and handed the microphone to me. She walked off the stage.

"Here's the plan," I started. "Everyone needs to defend each other. Be prepared to fight at any moment. If you know how to farm and garden, plant food! Who knows how long we'll be here. Gather water, and don't let you guard down! Let's preserve this house! It's our only shelter! So let's show these people who's boss!"

Link

Zelda and I were camped out on the highest point in the mansion. We hadn't dealt with any Prymids yet, but we still knew they'd find their way up on the roof eventually. "I didn't expect the trip to end up like this," Zelda said.

"I don't think anyone did," I replied. She sat down next to me. She leaned on me and rested her head on my shoulder.

"I'm drained of energy and terrified. I don't think I've ever been in more danger."

I put my arm around her. "It'll all be okay," I assured her.

Minutes passed as we sat, rain pouring on our heads.

"Geez, you two," a familiar voice said. "Get a room!"

Marth, Caeda, Ike, and Samus came out onto the roof. "Hey," Zelda said. "What's wrong?"

"We need to secure a base," Marth explained. "I assume there are no objections with the east wing on the second floor? Both Link, Zelda, and Samus already have rooms on that floor, and the recreational room is nearby."

Both Zelda and I stood up.

I wish I was still in her embrace, I thought.

Ike

"Well, it's go time," Marth said. We flung the east wing's doors open. Prymids flooded the halls. My first hit instantly knocked down one of them. I hit another, then another, and kept fighting the hoard. Everyone else seemed to be managing successfully.

I moved on to clear out some of the smaller rooms. They all flooded around me. It felt like Smash Run all over again. I managed to swing my sword and knock out a few, but they still attacked relentlessly.

Once again, the lovely girl of my dreams came to my rescue. Her short red hair, her navy tunic- wait, Samus didn't look like that...

Roy?

I managed to get back into a fighting stance and hold my ground. Roy and I cleared out a couple rooms with swift blows to the head and heavy hits.

"Thanks, dude," I said.

"No problem! Just trying to find a way to survive."

The rest of team found us and entered the room. "The east wing is officially clear. Find a place to settle down, preferably not too isolated in case you need someone's help," Caeda commanded. She locked eyes with Roy. "Roy! You're here!"

Marth walked over to him and have him a fist bump. "Welcome to the team, bro."

Caeda

I settled down on the sofa in the recreational room. Marth plopped down next to me. "You doing okay, sweetie?" he asked me. I went from a sitting position to laying down on the throw pillows.

"It could be worse," I replied. "It's just been a major... Stress. I don't even want to exit this wing so I don't get ambushed by Prymids."

Marth took my arm and lifted me back upright. He held me in his arms and rested his head on mine. "I'm terrified," he admitted.

"Me too," I agreed while putting my arms around him. "But just think, after all this, if we win, we'll be free to follow our hearts without canon."

Samus

I looked out the window of my room.

The sky was nothing but zeros and ones. I heard someone entry my room. "How are you holding up?" It was Zelda.

"This is..." my voice trailed off.

"Awful? I know," she said. She sat at my vanity and I heard a book hit the desk. "Look at this."

I walked over to her and looked at the book. It was about natural edible resources of the Battlefield. "Wow, Zelda! That's a really good find!"

I had hope of surviving.

And a feeling that canon wouldn't.
