You really screwed up now, Elijah. A man said. They're going to lock you up in solitary confinement for this one. It won't be for just a few days, either; no, I'm talking at least a year in there.
Solitary confinement? A woman said. They'll probably kill him for this.
As the darkness faded, I found myself staring up at a ceiling with a pounding headache and fatigued muscles.
Kill him, you say? He said. Hell, they'll put him down like a rabid dog.
Quiet! He's waking up.
Damn it! Why did he have to wake up?
He's going to freak out once he sees this mess.
I reached up to rub my eyes, and felt something warm, wet, and sticky on my hands and mouth. I shot straight up on the floor once I realized it was blood slathering my hands, and dripping down my arms.
What the hell? I thought.
A glint of white caught my eye, and I glanced past my hands, only to scramble to my feet and stumble several feet away from what I saw. I covered my mouth to stifle a scream once I realized it was the female doctor's body lying mutilated in a pool of blood on the floor in front of me; her clothes were soaked and splattered with blood, and her throat was ripped out and currently rested at least five feet from her body.
The phrase, "oh, my God" repeated throughout my head, and all I could do was stare at her in terror until my stomach lurched, and caused me to puke on the floor as I braced myself against a wall; my eyes widened further- if that were even possible at this point- when I saw nothing but blood pour out of my mouth. I felt dizzy again.
"Dr. Evans?" A man called. "Dr. Evans, are you down-" He cut himself off.
Oh, shit... I thought; I glanced to the side to see a male nurse appear from around the corner, and freeze, gaping at the horror that lay in front of him.
Oh, God, I'm so dead...
Seeing her bloodied body again made me puke again, only to find more blood come out; I was shaking now for two reasons.
"Elijah?" He asked.
Ah, crap...
"Elijah; is that you?"
The room began to spin, and I found myself nodding in response to him.
"Did you do this?"
As if it weren't obvious.
I involuntary shrugged.
"What happened?"
I shrugged.
What the fuck does it look like? I thought.
"Did you kill her?"
No; we had a nice, peaceful little tea party with the Queen of England. I thought sarcastically.
"God...what did you rip her throat out for?"
The room spun even more as the image flashed before my eyes, and I found myself collapsing to the floor.
--------------------
There were restraints on my wrists and ankles when I woke up, and I was in a white room- not a padded room...a white tiled room.
A doctor walked in a moment later.
"You're awake." He said.
Please tell me you're here to knock me out again. I thought.
"I know you've gotten into quite the bit of trouble, haven't you?"
I don't need the lecture you're about to give me; just tell me straight up what's going to happen.
"Murdering a doctor for no reason...tsk, tsk, tsk." He shook his head. "I had higher hopes for someone like you, Elijah. I thought you were different from your brother, but I suppose not."
Wait, what?
"I have a brother?" I asked.
"Indeed; and he is quite the character, if I do say so myself."
"Who is he? Where is he? Can I meet him?" The questions poured out of me.
"His name is Ryan, and he's here in this institution; he'll be out of solitary tomorrow, so you can meet him then."
"How old is he? Why is he in solitary? How long has he been in there? What's he like?" I couldn't control the amount of questions that poured from my mouth.
"He's sixteen, and you're an awful lot like him; that's all I'll tell you right now."
"Why?"
"Because then I'd be spoiling this reunion for you. You wouldn't want that, would you?"
"But-"
"Just try to rest for now; you'll be in your own room again when you wake up, and you can meet him in the morning." He started walking away, but stopped short and glanced over his shoulder. "Oh...and we'll discuss what you did last night later." He left the room, leaving me to lie awake for hours in anticipation and fear.
