Ebon knot

It's been a while since I asked you for this tie,

There was a time when you spoke as if I were your eye,

The distant memory of you asking my hand makes a sigh,

Those words you spoke of me still makes me high.

I think I mentally made you knot over my neck,

And now that lace blackened and is hovering my breath,

The ebon knot now taking my life as I memorize your peck,

Tightening my soul as you denude me to a wreck.

Sometimes you take some jokes and wits too seriously and you hold on to it while they never meant a word.

~Chaahat.

Glossary for non Indians,

Indians or rather Hindus denote marriage by a necklace rather than a ring. Our traditional mangal soothra is a black(ebon) thread and a pendant, with variations and it is tied by the groom on the bride's neck. Which makes the marriage essentially an Ebon Knot.
