Chpt 7- Apology accepted

I dropped the mirror into my lap and yanked my hair out of the messy bun it was tied into. I brushed it vigourously until all of the knots had dissapeared and then braided it all the way down to the small of my back, tying it with a blue ribbon. I then slathered on the lip gloss to my dry, chapped lips and applied a light coat of mascara. I grabbed for the mirror again only to see a much more presentable looking me smiling back. I nodded in approval.

A knock at the door was heard and I smiled, expecting to see Ruby, but I guessed wrong. A grinning man wearing a formal shirt entered the room, followed by Liam. Liam looked slightly suprised at how quickly I had cleaned myself up, but his open mouth was quickly replaced by a warm smile.

"Beth, this is Mr. Tanglewood, your Physiotherapist. You weren't due to see him for a couple of months after you awoke, but Niall insisted that you were to be first in line." He chuckled nervously. I smiled at the thought of Niall doing something like that for me, and instantly felt terrible about how I had treated him earlier.

"Hello, Bethany." Mr. Tanglewood held his hand out and I shook it.

"Hello." I said timidly. Mr. Tanglewood sat himself down and made himself comfortable, pushing his glasses up to the bridge of his nose.

"How are you feeling?" He asked me politely.

"Good, thank you." The man had a thick, brown beard and a bald head, and looked about in his mid thirties. He wore a long-sleeved fomal shirt, a leather belt and jeans.

"So I understand you have been involved in a car crash, mm?" He confirmed. I nodded my head. "And you have lost your memory?" I nodded once again. He thought for a minute, his grey eyes scanned the room. He straightened his glasses. "Have you remembered anything so far..?" He asked me.

"Yes, I've seen a few familiar faces and had a few brief memories." I explained to him formally. He leaned back in his chair and furrowed his dark eyebrows, chewing the side of his mouth.

"And how do you feel about this?" He asked me, as if he actually had an interest in my well-being. I bit my lip.

"I'm not sure. I'm sort of shocked and confused, but I feel really great when I remember something. Its like another puzzle place fits back into place." I thought for a second. "Like the puzzle of my life."

He 'hmmed' in understanding and approval. "If someone, maybe one of your friends here," He motioned to Liam who stood leaned against the doorway. "were to explain to you who you were, what you do and basically everything that they know about your life; do you think you those puzzle peices would be able to fit themselves back into place?" He suggested. I nodded slowly, considering his idea.

"I think so." I stared down at my hands and began picking at my nails. "But I it will ever be the same.." I admitted in a more hushed tone.

Mr.Tanglewood sighed as if he had been through this process a thousand times. "Bethany, you have to understand that your life will never be the same, however hard you try, its just not going to happen." He explained bluntly. I flinched in realisation and my eyes widened at how honest he was, and not all comforting.

Liam's eyebrows raised and he walked over to my bed, placing his hand on my shoulder. "Dont worry, Beth. Things will get better.." he promised me, but I wasn't so sure if he was right. I took a deep breath to get rid of the panic slowly rising in my chest.

Mr.Tanglewood's watch beeped loudly. He looked at it and turned it off with a press of a button.

"I'm sorry that our session was so short, but I was hired at late notice and I have another appointment now." He stood up. "I'll see you for our next session next Wednesday." He looked at his watch again hastily and walked towards the curtain. "Have a nice night." He smiled and dissapeared into the corrodoor.
