Chapter 7:

I got to my room, shut the door quietly behind me and slid to the floor. Today’s event flashed in my mind. English with Rain. The fight with Dustin. The walk with Rain. The cop incident. Meeting Rain’s dad.

I shook my head, and walked to my desk, where my notebook was. I opened it to a new page, pulled out my pen, and wrote; the moon is bright, the sun is dark, life is dreaded, and death is embraced, the unknown is ignored, the known is researched, friends are enemies, and your enemies are your only friend.

I put away the notebook, and looked at the flashing clock: 6:00pm. I walked slowly to the bathroom, opened the door and locked it behind me. I stared into the mirror, and tried to gather my thoughts. I washed my face in the sink, and tried again...nothing. I started the shower, and waited for it to warm up before I undressed, and went in.

The water hit my skin warming me up bit by bit. I ran my hands through my hair, making water splash to the floor with a splat. I turned up the heat, and closed my eyes. It felt like I was floating. Like I was in a dream.

I shut off the water, ending my dream, and got out. I grabbed a towel, and wrapped it around me. I looked in the mirror again, but I only saw me. I don’t know what I was looking for...just anything but me.

I opened the door, and walked into the hall. “Duncan?” Asked Sasha with a giggle. Oh, shit! I forgot they were here. I turned around, and face her. Deklin was looking at me over her shoulder. My face flushed red in embarrassment.

“Sorry. I forgot you were still here.” I apologized.

“It’s okay. It’s just I never thought my lil’ bro was kind of hot.”

            “Excuse me?” Asked Deklin.

“Sorry babe, but it’s true. Look at him. He’s really actually hot.” She said with a giggle.

“Okay?” I said, walking to my room. I could still hear them arguing over the subject. I found some boxers, and pulled them on. Then walked over to my dresser and found a pair of pajama pants, and a black undershirt.

I pulled them on, took off my necklace and put it away, glancing over at my clock: 7:30. Too early, to go to bed, so I left my room, went into the living room and sat next to Sasha.

“Hello, handsome.” She teased, and I dipped my head. They were watching SpongeBob. A show that every age loves. I stared at the T.V, not actually watching it.

“I don’t see what you’re talking about babe. He’s not hot. But he isn’t ugly.” Said Deklin confused.

“Don’t worry babe. He’s my lil’ bro, you know I love you.” She said, reaching up at his face, cupping it in her hands, and kissing him.

When they released he looked at her with affectionate eyes, and she smiled at him. “I love you.” He whispered to her, and her smile grew even bigger.

I got up, and walked to my room. Too much, love in there. I just want to stop thinking about her. Rain that is. She traumatizes my thoughts, and all I can hear is her laughing or seeing her smile.

I closed my door, and jumped on my bed, trying to smother myself with a pillow. I suddenly felt tired, and my eyelids drooped down, pulling me under into unconsciousness.
