Ellie's POV:
I couldn't believe the tree was gone. My last connection with my dad was completely destroyed. I shouldn't have yelled at Ryder. He was just trying to make me feel better. After a while, I ran to the pick up. It was destroyed, so I had to run into
Town. When I got there, I saw some people lifting a tree off of a car.Off multiple cars actually.
I helped them with some and when we got one off of one of the smashed cars, I looked in the window, and saw my mother. My motionless, pale mother. She passed on. She was with my dad now.
I ran back to the farm and when I got there, Ryder was trying to clean up. He saw me and I ran into his arms. "She's gone." I cried. He hugged me tight. I could've stayed there in his embrace forever.
We cleaned up most of the mess, then went inside and just sat in the living room in silence. "Both my parents are dead." I choked on my own words as tears streamed down my face.
"You still have me." Ryder comforted me. "Ryder, you'll probably leave when you find a better job or-" I started but he cut me off. "I'm not leaving you. I never will." He said in all seriousness. I rested my head on his chest and snuggled next to him. He put his arm around me and hugged me. "I love you." I sighed. I eventually fell asleep because I was so emotionally exhausted.
