Ryder's POV:
I was fine that Ellie didn't have feelings for me, but I guess a little part of me wished she did.I obviously liked Ellie since the day I was hired as a farmhand. She just hasn't felt the same for me though. Maybe she was right. We should keep it professional. I mean, it's not like I will be here for much longer anyways.
I walked into the house and the phone rang. "Could you get that Ryder? I'm watering the flowers!" Ellie yelled from up the stairs. I picked up the phone. The conversation:
Me: Hello?
Caller: Hi Ryder! Just the person I wanted to talk to! So your mother and I are coming down today to get you.
Me: dad? What the heck? I have a job though, I can't just leave.
Caller: son, we need you back home. Aunt Georgia is sick and your little sister broke her leg. We will be there in 5 hours. Be ready.
Me: dad wait I-
*end of call*
UGH! I was so mad right now I could've just punch a hole straight through the wall. I ran to my room and paced back and forth, thinking of what to do. How would I tell Ellie? I obviously didn't have the choice of staying here.
She knocked on my door and asked me who called. I told her to come in some we could talk.
"Ellie...my parents just called me. I'm leaving today..." I stuttered. She stared at me astonished and her jaw dropped. "But you can't! I have no one!" She blurted out. "I don't have a choice. Im sorry." I sighed. She ran out of my room and ran to her room, slamming the door behind her.
Man I screwed up.
~5 hours later~
I was completely pack and I walked downstairs as my parents pulled up. I loaded my stuff into the car and walked to the barn, telling them I would be right back.
"Ellie, I'm leaving..." I sighed. She just stared at me with a hurt expression on her face. I said goodbye to all the horses, even Vincenzo. As I was about to leave, I handed Ellie an envelope with a note inside it. She stared at me and stared at it. While I walked away, I heard paper ripping. I guess she didn't care.
I got into my parents car and left.
