Chapter Four

Isabelle Lee's Point of View

The night is calm and warm here at the Kim's place where Mateo and I are lost in the written words of Rumors of War with our English mentor.

I decide to take a break after a very long read to rest my eyes and let the occurrences in the story sink in. I'm already halfway through with the book while the guy beside me is nearly done who is occasionally engrossed with the story as he munch a Fuji apple.

On the other side, Mister Shin is rereading the book with full concentration. He was absolutely correct when he said we would love the story because Mateo and I have no idea what we're going to do next with our lives if we finished the book.

"Okay, I guess that's it for today." Mister Shin declares as he shut his book close and Mateo appears to be unnoticed that our teacher is already ending the session that I have to nudge him on the shoulder.

"Whoever wrote this book is a genius. Later, when I get home, I'm going to search everything about World War II." Mateo announces instantly after I pushed him gently as he put his book down and it seems like he can't get over it which makes Mister Shin chuckle.

"I told you, it's a good read. I wish I could find the second book though. I've been looking fo-"

"What? There's a second book?" Mateo and I ask in unison, bewilderment obvious in our faces.

"There is also a fifth book." He replies as he laugh at our astonished expressions. "You see, I randomly went to this book sale and I found this. As I read the description of the book, I knew it was going to be wonderful and there were four copies so I bought it without thinking, but with the thought that you will enjoy it."

"You can't buy it online." Mateo talks to no one in particular with a sad tone clinging to his voice as he scan through his phone, his mouth turning into a pout. He probably searched Google where we can find and buy the other series as soon as Mister Shin brought it up which is very typical of him.

"Don't worry, I'll return to the place where I bought it. It's a beautiful book so it must be everywhere." Mister Shin guarantees, lifting Mateo and I's spirit as he stand up from his chair and then brings to a final point the class.

Well, this is new.

Mister Shin ending the session early is very rare and when he does, you're very fortunate. It's only seven pm and for a world record, we are already done and this is the earliest time he has dismissed us.

"Are you heading home already?" Mateo questions as he pile up the plates we used for the fruits Mrs. Kim prepared for us as I put the chairs back neatly.

"I haven't contacted my fetchers yet so nope. Why?" I respond, now helping him with the plates, forks and glasses.

"I want to show you something."

"What is it?"

"You'll know. So what do you think?"

"Sure."

"Great. Can you ask them to pick you up at my house?"

"Alright. Which house?" I answer him, trying my best to act serious and have no clue which house he was talking about, but the truth is, I really know which makes him bob his head sideways and me, laugh.

Haha, I'm so funny... not!!!

So from Peter's house to Mateo's house is just a fifteen minute drive when there's no traffic and the quantity of cars out by this time is not enough to have one.
