June 3rd, 8:30 pm

Leonel hopped in the front and I hopped in the back. Mom started driving away from our cabin.

"Leonel, what did you mean when you said it was time?" I asked.

"I'll tell you later." He said.

Suddenly, there is a roar of thunder behind us. I look that way and see a dark figure.

"Don't look at it!" Mom screams.

"What is it?"

"We're almost there." Leonel sighes.

"Where?" I scream again. Why is no one answering my questions?

All of a sudden, lightning hits our car engine. Our car jerks off into the ditch. Mom is knocked out by the blow. Leonel is trying to get her up.

I try to open my door, behind Leonel's, but it's slammed shut. I crawl over to the other side and try to open the door. Thank goodness it opens.

When I come out, Leonel is dragging mom out of the car. Her eyes jolt open.

"Mom!"

"Sweetie, do you see that tree?" She asks. "You have to go there."

"No, I'm not leaving you." I say.

She looks at my eyes. I can tell she is thinking about Dad. I feel a tear slip out of my eye.

"Take Leonel up to that tree. You will be safe. The monster will not attack me. I promise." Mom sighed.

Leonel grabs my arm and starts pulling me up to the tree. I yank my arm out of his grasp. "I am not leaving mom!" I scream.

Leonel grabs both of my arms, and drags me to the tree. Now I can't escape from his grasp.

He keeps dragging me until we get to some really big house. He passes out on the porch. A few minutes later, everything goes black.
