I reached to stick the key into the key hole, but the door swung open with the wind. A stagnant smell wafted towards us. We only looked forward, worried of what was ahead.

"Took the two of you long enough," his voice echoed through the silent house. He stood at the top of the stairs, waiting for us.

I was worried, but Roman and I had been researching this for years. We delved back into our childhood and recalled his nightmares of an unlikely high school love where the status quo almost kept two lovers apart. Disney Channel has scarred him for life, and we could only assume that such things had heightened since his Turning.

"Come. Visit with us," Roman spoke with an air of nonchalance as he sauntered into the living room and plopped down on a plastic covered, dust infected couch arm.

Roman looked at him, waiting. I felt invisible standing at the door, but with Walker, there was no such thing, he saw it all.

"One last time, Walker," Roman whispered. We all knew this would be the last time the three of us stood together in one room.

Walker started down the stairs and my chest tightened. It was almost time.

        Almost time.

I walked over to Roman and rested my hand on his shoulder.

At last, Walker reached us, and for a moment, I caught a glimpse of the friend I use to have, but in a flash, his eyes turned cold for the last time in his temporary forever.

"Now," Roman said in a low tone. Walker had just enough time to register confusion before we burst out singing.

"WE"RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, ONCE WE KNOW--" Walker slammed his hand into my chest and I flew across the room and into a dusty table.

"This is just like the movies," I chuckled to myself and lost my breath for a moment, but Roman kept going.

"MAKE OUR DREAMS COME TRUE," Roman sing-shouted.

Walker grimaced and staggered towards Roman, who took a step back.

"TOGETHER, TOGETHER, TOGETHER EVERYONE," I grunted as I stood.

"Stop it," Walker tripped himself and fell to his knees.

This could be another movie moment where I actually believe that he's still my best friend, and i stop singing, but then he kills us both, I shuddered at the thought.

        "I'm sorry," I said instead.

        It was time.

        I exhaled.

"Take my hand," Roman began singing as he held out his hand out to me. "I'll take the lead... And every turn, will be safe with me... Don't be afraid..., Afraid to fall.... You know I'll catch you through it all..."

"Even a thousand miles," I sang, "can't keep us apart.."

"Cause my heart," we sang together, "is wherever you are.."

Walkers had fallen to his back now and was reaching towards us, silently begging for one last opportunity to violently murder us.

Roman and I, still with intertwined hands, slowly kneeled next to him and finished sadly, "And with every step together, we just keep on getting better..... Can i have this daaaaaance?"

We watched him struggle to speak. A tear slid down my cheek.

"Can I have this daance.." Walker's voice was barely above a whisper. "Can i have this dance?"

Roman and I exhale in relief at his peaceful expression. His last breath was one of dust, as he finally, finally rested.

        Forever.

Hours later, the two of us drove across a bridge and I took a snapchat video of the water with "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" by Haley Reinhart playing in the background. And then I tossed the key Walker had given me into the water, hoping to never see it again.
