Year 3

He returned back to his pristine penthouse and booted his Apple computer. He decided to lay his off on work for a few days, and they can understand his situation.

“How to bring back the dead.” Christopher typed those exact words into google. He thought one way to start by asking with a question he had in mind. He never expected it to be this many results.

Thousands, millions of websites appeared in less than 10 seconds. The power of Google after all.  There were multiple websites about satanic worship, demonic worship, and all other things Christopher wouldn’t even dare believing. He came across a website about Hoodoo—which is basically witchcraft. It was a good start but he decided to investigate other websites that can help.

He noticed there were multiple things similar to each of these websites. “Crossroad demon.” He read further. “The crossroads -- a place where two roads cross at or about at right angles, otherwise known as "the forks of the road" -- is the subject of religious and folkloric belief all around the world. Because the crossroads is land that belongs to no one, a place outside the borders of town, it is considered a suitable site to perform magical rituals and cast spells. The use of the crossroads as an impromptu altar where offerings are placed and rituals performed is widely encountered in both European and African folklore….”

Blah Blah Blah, he skipped the boring useless facts and to the part about how to summon demons. “A Crossroads Demon is typically summoned by burying a container of ritual items, including a photograph of the summoner, graveyard dirt, and a black cat bone.”

“Great.” Christopher thought. “At least 2 of ritual items is crossed off—which is the photograph and a container. But how can I find these things without being found out?”

It resulted him to search for those things in e-bay and surprisingly, one particular seller had the 3 things he needed in a bundle. The seller didn’t sell any other hoodoo things except the 2 ritual items he needed.

Days later it arrived in a package containing the black cat bone and the graveyard dirt in a clear glass bottle. Who knew someone is actually selling these things.

All he needed to do was put all of these things together in the container and find a cross road.

It was in the middle of the night and he thought of it as a perfect time. Christopher drove off, couldn’t contain his excitement. In a matter of hours, he came across a dirt cross road. He thought of it being impossible finding an undeveloped cross road since it is New York after all, but he was lucky.

He grabbed a shovel from his car, and began digging right by the center of the cross road. It was deep enough to bury the container, so he placed it inside the ditch and buried it. Christopher wasn’t sure if it was ever going to work.

“Umm…cross road demon, please come?” Christopher waited, and waited for eternity. Luckily for him, he brought some booze to pass time. It wasn’t working. Was there something he missed while was doing his research? I mean, the thing is not even appearing.

“Oh God…” Other than that, he was definitely going crazy. “I’m fine…” He self-assured. He yelled as he tossed the shovel on the road. Obviously, he’s not doing so well.

He’s lost his mind. Christopher had been obsessed of his parent’s death for the past years of his life. He needed them back into his life. He felt lost like a little boy. Useless without his parents. It’s childish of him. He shouldn’t dwell on the death of your parents. A man like him should move on, but this heavy grudge he placed upon himself grew, and it resulted into this.

As he bawled, and thrashed, out of his mind as a woman with blond hair appeared out of thin air. She wore this beautiful laced dress and her porcelain skin can be seen through accompanied with matching red heels. Her lips were painted deep red and her eyes were of deep ocean blue. Her cheekbones were rosey pink. She had the perfect body, the perfect face, and the perfect complexion.

“Hello there Chris.” The woman said smoothly. Immediately Christopher stopped what he was doing, and faced the woman. The woman walked approached Christopher, but she stopped as soon as he took further steps back.

What was this woman doing in the middle of the road? He was expecting an all-powerful, ferocious, horrible looking creature, but instead he was given a woman. Is this some kind of joke? A prank?

He was scared, he thought she might be a hallucination.

It must have been the booze. Christopher thought.

After all, he thought this whole thing was stupid, trying to bring his parents back from the dead. Trying to use some sort of stupid hoodoo witchcraft to even bringing them back from the dead.

The red lady approached Christopher and this time, he did not back off. He decided to give into it, and the red lady caressed both of his cheeks. “Now what can I do for you Chris? I can give you whatever you want, just name it.”

“A-Am I hallucinating?” Christopher whimpered, holding back the tears.

“Shh…you’re not hallucinating. You called me for a purpose. Now tell me Chris, what is it that your heart desires?” She whispered, playing with a strand of Chris’ hair.

“Fine. Whatever you are, I want this one thing.” Christopher exhaled. “I-I want to see my parents again. I want them back.”
