She knew it was a lost case. She didn't have a strong, valid argument to counter the decision. She didn't have enough reason to change the situation. All she had was love.
And she knew it wasn't enough to make him stay.
"I love you,"
The words came like a broken song being played time after time. But the difference is that it wasn't any kind of song, it wasn't some broken cassette. It was her voice, her feelings-----broken and torn.
She stared blatantly at him, searching for anything that would make her hold on. Something that would give her hope that she's not wasting her efforts. She looked at him, trying to find a glimmer of the feeling that was shining in her eyes, something that will prove to her that she still can do it. That they can fix it all up. That it wasn't a lost case at all.
"Please," her voice sounded weak even in her ears. "I love you..."
"I love you... I do."
"What about now?" There was the quiet hope lingering in her tone, keeping her from giving up.
But as the seconds tic, it was slowly crumbling. Just as when she thought that she's finally, slowly getting him back, he reverted his eyes. And with it, he took away everything from her. No strength. No hope. Nothing but the tears running down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry"
That's all that was left as she watched the love of her life turn his back on her and walk away. She didn't budge, she didn't move, she didn't run after him. She did nothing but watch as he walk away with her heart dying at his feet.
"Happy Valentine's day,"
She heard a crack and she didn't have to look to know where it came from. She didn't have to look down to see that it was her heart broken into pieces handed back to her.
She didn't have to... she just knew.
