"Ah, Jackie, boy!" The Doctor as he spread his arms out wide and a man with dark hair opened the door to the apartment.

"Doctor! What are you doing her?" The man said in surprise. I could see the spark it interest in his eyes as he looked at the two of us.

"Just stopping by to deliver a friend to you..."

"Wait, deliver me? Are you going to leave me here, Doctor?" I ask, confused and surprised at his sudden motion.

"Yes, I am delivering you here for a little bit. But just a little bit, Penny. I promise I'll make it back as soon as possible. I'm just going to leave you here for a little bit to gather yourself up from your sudden regeneration. You know, to relax a little bit and to get used to yourself. And for me to get in some private meetings with people and other things like that. Is that all right, Penelope?" The Doctor tried to explain to me.

"Um, well, I guess, Doctor, but-"

"Great! So, Penny, this is Jack," The Doctor interrupted.

"Hi. I'm Captain Jack Harkness," the man said as he held out his hand.

"Don't!" The Doctor said to him.

"What? I didn't do anything!" Jack said to him.

"Exactly," the Doctor responded.

"Um, hi, Jack. I'm Penny," I said to him.

"Alright, Jack, I'm trusting you. You two better not, ya know, do anything..."

"Don't worry about it, Doctor. It'll be alright. Come on, now Penny," Jack said as he held out his hand for me to take as he led me into his apartment.

"Jack, I'm trusting you!" The Doctor yelled before Jack shut the door on him. I looked around the room and marveled at some of the strange devices he had in there.

"Hey, Jack, what did the Doctor mean when he said some of that stuff to you? Why did he say he has to trust you as if he might not be able to trust you?" I asked him.

"Ah, don't worry about it. It'll probably be fine as long as he's not gone for more than a year. That would just be way too much for me to handle..." Jack mumbled to himself. I didn't understand that then, but after a year I did. And then another year went by, and then another, and another, and another, and another....

Six years later

"Jack, would you mind taking Molly to school today? Maren's being difficult today, she just climbed on top of the counter," I said to Jack.

"Sure, I think I'll probably be able to on my way to work. Molly! It's time to leave!!" Jack yelled to our oldest daughter.

"Jack, be a little quieter! You might wake...*baby crying*... Sailor!" I mumble as I hear him cry and run to his room to pick him up. I walk back into the living room just as the doorbell rings.

"Hm, I wonder who that could be. We never get any visitors," Jack said as he turned the handle on the door. Standing on the other side was none other than the Doctor.

"Doctor! Oh my gosh, you came back!" I exclaim as I use my free arm that's not holding the baby to hug him.

"Well, of course I came back I haven't been gone that long, have I? Wait, what's with the baby?" The Doctor questioned.

"Hold on, what do you mean by you haven't been away that long. What is your meaning of 'long'"? Jack asked him.

"Well it's only been about a month or less, hasn't it?" I laughed at him.

"Doctor, a month or less? Seriously?" I say.

"What do you mean?"

"Doctor it's been six years. You've been away for six years," Jack explained. The Doctors jaw dropped and his eyes got wide.

"And we started a family while you were away. Sorry, but it was just too long to not do anything and just to wait for you, Doctor. We moved on and started a life," I say to him.

"This is our oldest daughter, Molly, she's five years old," Jack said as he brought her out from around the corner,"our other daughter Maren is probably playing in her room right now, she's three, and Penny's holding our little boy Sailor who is only one year old," Jack continued.

"Jack, I trusted you!" The Doctor grumbled.

"Sorry, but you heard Penny. We just decided to move on with our lives."

"Alright, fine, I guess it's not really your fault I was gone that long...anyway, let's meet these kids!" The Doctor said, brightening up a little bit.
