It's Jared to the right to the right yo!
Chapter 15
Dana stared at her ex-best friend as he placed a helmet on his head and jumped on the bike.
“I don’t have my extra helmet with me now, so--” he turned back and grinned at her, “Hold me tight.”
He revved the bike and pulled onto the street before she could even protest. She grabbed his shoulders before she fell off the bike.
“JARED!!!!!!????” she screamed after they were riding on the road.
“Yeah?”
“STOP THE DAMN BIKE NOW!!!”
“NO!!” he laughed.
“YOU IDIOT!!!” she yelled at him, hitting him on the helmet. “I AM GOING TO GET YOU FOR THIS!”
The roar of the bike drowned her words. Frustrated, she tried to shut off the heat pouring off Jared’s back, beckoning her to hug him. She had missed his warm comfortable hugs and right now, he was just a few centimeters away. Her fingers started creeping over his jacket to his waist when she stopped, horrified.
Control girl, control yourself. Don’t you have any pride? Do you want to forgive him just yet after all the pain he put you through? Control is the key. She let go of his shoulders and gripped the seat. No way was she going to tempt herself by touching him.
She thought him look back at her or it could be because of the movement of the bike. Then he suddenly swerved to the left. She gave a small squeak but tightened her hold on the seat. Stupid boy showing off his skills, she glared at the helmeted head in front of her.
He swerved again, increasing the speed. She let go of the seat with a shriek and held onto Jared’s shoulders for dear life.
“JAAAAAARED!!!!” she screamed, not caring whether she was holding him. She felt like shouting out in excitement as the wind whipped around her, tangling her hair, numbing her nose and ears.
The engine of the Ninja ZX-14 was powerful and it surged through the roads, weaving between vehicles at breakneck speed. Jared turned the bike this way and that, tossing her around. He ignored three red traffic lights and then finally slowed down.
And by that time,Dana found herself hugging Jared by his waist, her face pressed to his back, a silly smile on her face. She hadn’t been scared at least once during the ride because she herself loved speed and she knew that it was Jared who was driving the bike. He could be a little reckless but he was always in control. Dana knew that and trusted him. She smiled again momentarily forgetting everything about her anger at him and Alexis and the police, just enjoying the thrill she got from the ride, her cheeks cold from the wind, with Jared, her best friend with her. She felt him gently touch her hands on his waist, as if she was going to shy away suddenly. She wanted to. She wanted to get up and away from him, give him a haughty glare and get the hell out his sight but she was enjoying herself too much. There was safety in Jared and she wanted it.
“Danny?”
She sighed, letting his voice wash over her before removing her arms from his waist, shaking his hands off. She blinked at the blue jacket he was wearing and removed her face from it. She was starting to feel the beginnings of shame now.
Jared took his helmet off and shook his blond hair. Dana looked at it remembering how she had tied his bangs in two pony tails, hair sticking out in fluffs. Trying to stifle a laugh at the ridiculous image he presented that time, she swung her leg over the bike and got down. Deciding that forgiving Jared just yet would do no good, she stalked off. Well, she did have good reasons to not to forgive him.
