Carmen tied her hair up as she stood on the bridge, the chilly air grazing her bare skin. She felt her now swollen cheek bone. She sighed, she pull out her last cigarette lighting it.
"Thought we talked about you quitting."
Carmen smiled, James always had a way of lighting things up. "It's not for me." she laughed dropping it in the water.
James leaned on the railing looking up at her. He watched how every time she blinked her lips would twitch up into a smile, And how you couldn't tell if her if her eyes were green or grey, the way the wind whipped the stray hairs into her face causing her nose to scrunch slightly.
"Staring's rude you know." She giggled.
"Not when it's something beautiful." he smiled, looking dropping his head into his hands. "Please tell me who does these things to you, I'll take care of it for you, please."
His thumb softly grazed over her swollen, bruised cheek. She couldn't hold his gaze, she began to trip over her words.
"I...You see...I...Um....well...I uh..." she sighed pulling away from him.
"What is it?" he asked pulling her to him.
His soft, gentle touch was foreign to her body. A shiver ran down her back as he placed a soft kiss on her wounded cheek.
"You don't have to tell me." he sighed.
"okay." she breathed.
"are you hungry?" he asked taking off his jacket.
Carmen nodded her head, letting her hair back down running her fingers through it.
"Let's get you something to eat." He smiled wrapping his jacket around Carmen's shoulders.
