"Carmen you gotta letter." Garrett said throwing it into her apartment.
Carmen picked it up
No return address she thought She tore the top open pulling out the paper. Carefully she unfolded the paper, her eyes running over the words.
Dear Carmen,
I'm so sorry for all I've done. I know you may never forgive me, I don't deserve forgiveness. You deserve someone one hundred times better than me. I already know I'm gonna be found guilty of murder. I just wanted to say goodbye, I'm just a goner now.
I never deserved you. You were a summer rain, and I was the hurricane. Tomorrow's obituaries are probably the past you'll hear of me.I love you,
Xavier Morrison Jr.The letter fluttered to the ground, shock crashing over her. He was going to kill himself. She felt her phone vibrant , she looked at her phone's screen Ariel's picture appeared. She glided he thumb over the screen to answer.
"Hello?" She asked her voice shaking slightly.
"Xavier.....I...something's wrong....he sent me a voicemail....he told me to tell you.....the one place you feel at home...is the one place you'll truly be gone " Ariel said between sobs and gasps.
Carmen dropped her phone and ran. She wasn't gonna let this happen, she knew what he meant. Back before everything he was different.
---
Past.Carmen walked down the halls her hair hanging in her face. Carmen's arms linked with Bunny and Cat.
Xavier sat in hall waiting for his classroom door to open. His eyes skid down Carmen's body, he quickly looked away from her, his eye's Returning back to his Text book. Carmen unlinked from her friends taking a seat next to him.
They sat there silently. She looked at him.
"Hey, meet me here tonight." Carmen smile passing him a postcard of an old, camping site.
He smiled reading the postcard
'The one place I feel at home.'
----
Carmen legs ached when she reached the campsite. She walked to the railing of the bridge seeing Xavier getting ready to jump.
"Didn't see you as the jumping type."she said trying to catch her breath.
"Tried the gun, just couldn't pull the trigger " Xavier laughed trying to mask his pained voice.
"Didn't see you as that person either." Carmen told him.
"Then what person do you see me as?" He asked annoyed.
"Idk, I saw you as gentle and kind, the opposite of your father to be honest. Strong before your mother you know, passed. I don't know what made you snap." Carmen sighed fiddling with the cigarette she had taken out.
"Well, this is who I am, and I don't deserve to be here. I'm tired of this." He said his grip on the railing loosened.
"Fuck that, sure you've done bad shit but everyone has, except prince charming. But everyone deserves to live no matter what you do, I don't care if you killed 100 people, or you don't feel like you belong here. You deserve to live. And the fact that you are accounting for your wrongs makes you a whole lot better than the people who feel they didn't do anything wrong." Carmen shouted at him.
"Carmen-"
"Shut up I'm Speaking. Now climb back over this railing and come get a hug, and a smoke and it'll be like the good days." Carmen sighed rundding her hand through her now short black hair.
Xavier climbed over taking a seat on the bridge leaving against the railing.
"God, you're annoying." He laughed as she sat in front of him.
"Now, don't think things are gonna be like they used to, you've done some stuff that I just can't forgive you for." Carmen stating pointing her cigarette at him
"I understand, I'm just glad that you talked some sense into me." He sighed starting to cry " I'm..so so so so so very sorry for all that I've done to, I'm turning in my confession."
"I'm proud that you're trying to do the right thing." Carmen smiled pulling him into a hug.
"Not just the shooting." He added "everything, the shit I did to you, the drugs, I'm telling it all." He said crying into her hair.
"All I can say now is thank you for owning up to it, and forgive you for what you've done ."
"Are you happy with the cop guy." Xavier randomly asked.
"Yeah, yeah I think I like the way I feel when he looks at me, makes me wanna believe in anything.." Carmen smiled wiping away Xavier's like she would a small child.
"Will you walk me to the station to turn myself in?" He asked looking into her Green Greg eyes.
"Anything." She smiled getting up and whipping the dirt off her legs.
