Sophie's POV

Sophie screamed in frustration as Mr. Forkle just shook his head at her question.

"What ability did you trigger now?!"

She was shouting at him, while Keefe watched, smirking, with a bowl of popcorn in his hands.

Mr. Forkle raised his hands and his disguise wore off, leaving him as Kenric.

She wanted to throw something so badly, but he knew that she could never hit Kenric.

Dirty cheater.

Keefe set the bowl of popcorn on the ground and reached for her.

"Whoa, Foster. Those are some strong emotions."

He was right.

The only other time she had feelings this strong was when Keefe had been gone.

Sophie shuddered thinking about it.

Keefe draped an arm across her shoulders.

"Cold, Foster?"

She blushed, but managed to glare at him.

"Nope."

Mr. Forkle sighed.

"You will find out what we triggered sooner or later. Even we don't know."

Sophie pondered on it, and pleasantly surprised Keefe when she didn't remove his arm.

Wait...

What?

"I'm an Empath?" She whispered.

Keefe laughed.

"C'mon, Foster, that's the one I specifically told you not to waste an ability slot on!"

She didn't answer, just stood there looking intrigued and horrified at the same time.

Keefe stopped laughing.

"Wait, you're not joking?"

She shook her head, and said, "You're feeling surprised, shocked, and panic?"

Keefe turned red.

"Uh,"

"And now you're embarrassed," Sophie declared triumphantly as she poked his pink cheeks.

"I am not!"

"Yes you are."

"I am not!"

"Don't lie to me."

"I'm not lying!"

"Sure you aren't."

"Yes, I'm -"

"Aww, you're already bantering like a married couple now!" Biana cooed while walking in with Dex.

"I swear you're becoming more like him these days." Dex grumbled.

Keefe looked affronted.

"Are you saying that I'm not a good influence?"

Dex looked to the sky with a look that said, heaven help me.

"Do tell who the supposed 'mastermind' was when Iggy grew vampire fangs and got a makeover in a chiffon dress."

"You got one thing right," Fitz said as he came over, also giving Sophie a suggestive wink. Dex scowled, and Biana shook her head, laughing as she tried to calmed him down.

Sophie glared back at Fitz, her face flaring with a deep magenta.

Her friends grinned at her in a, "I'm sorry but I'm really not," kind of way.

"Well, here's the new rule breaker," Keefe said.

"Sophie decided to manifest as an Empath."

"What?!"

Fitz laughed.

"And that's the one Keefe told you not to manifest."

Keefe looked at his best friend in thanks.

"Someone understands!"

Sophie sighed.

"Mr. Wrinkles over there thought it was a good idea."

Biana aww'ed again.

"You're sounding more like him every day!"

Sophie looked to the sky.

"God, what did I do to deserve this?"

"You offended me and my precious feelings?" Keefe offered.

Sophie rolled her eyes, neither of them noticing that Keefe's arm was still around her shoulders.

Biana sighed and leaned back into Dex's chest.

He looked surprised, but didn't move back.

Biana didn't seem to notice as she swayed, an impish grin if her face as she fantasized about Keefe and Sophie.

After mortifying Sophie for a few more minutes, the group split up.

Biana and Dex smiled at the two as they went over to talk to Mr. Forkle, and Fitz yelped and ran out of the room, saying that Granite would kill him if he was late again.

Even then, Sophie was still as red as Biana's lipstick.

Keefe leaned down so that he was right next to her ear.

"Who's embarrassed now?"
