Day 5
2:02 PM"Let's stop here for the day," Four says, dropping our box of food with all the supplies in it on the ground.
Tris drops the tent she was carrying and herself to the ground. "I would argue and say that it's only the afternoon but I agree with you. I'm so tired," she complains. I couldn't agree with her more. I hate walking around doing nothing.
I sit down near her and take out my wand from my pocket. I reach for Ron's wand in my other pocket, except it's not there. My stomach jumps and I quickly stand up, looking around.
"What are you doing?" Tris asks.
"I lost Ron's wand," I say, looking around the area. They both awkwardly watch me as a stumble around. I can't loose that wand. Not only is it a token of Ron, but it's a backup wand, just in case I loose mine or break it. It's priceless. I really can't loose it.
I look up at them. "I'm gonna go back and look for it."
"No. That'll be impossible. We were everywhere today," Four tells me.
"It can't be far," I say. "I remember holding it not too far back. It shouldn't be too lost. I'll be right back."
"Well, be safe. If you don't find it by the time it's dark then come back," Tris tells me. I nod at her and walk away.
Does she really care about me? No. She just wants me to stay alive probably because I provide water for them, I'm sure.
I trace our footprints in the snow, scanning the ground. It shouldn't be too hard to find. The ground is white, and the wand is brown.
But wait. There are sticks on the ground. And those are brown, too.
The wand looks like a stupid stick.
Four was right. This is hopeless.
I shove the pessimism out of my mind. There has to be some spell to help me look. I take out my wand. "Accio-Ron's Wand," I say stupidly. It doesn't work. Accio doesn't work in this arena for some reason. Hermione would be disappointed in me for trying.
Hermione. I miss her. I'll never forgive myself for making her so mad that she had to leave Ron and I. That was the most idiotic thing I've done. Ugh. I screwed it up with her, and I screwed it up with Ron. I suck. Seriously. I just suck.
I suddenly spot it on the ground, about seven feet ahead. Ron's wand! I bend down and pick it up, never feeling true relief until now.
I stand up and suddenly slam into someone, dropping both wands. I yell a little and drop to the ground, grasping the wands. I point my wand at the tribute and stand.
The tribute is female, and her hair is a little crazy- "Hermione?" I say.
"Harry!"
It is Hermione! I drop my wand in shock. I grab her and hug her. I was just thinking about her.
"Oh my God. I missed you so much," she says through my shirt.
"I've missed you too," I say.
She pulls away. "Harry, I've been so worried!"
"I know. I'm so glad you're safe!" I exclaim. I truly have never been more happy to see someone.
Then we go silent. I know we're both thinking about the same thing.
"How'd he die," Hermione says to the ground.
I really don't want to talk about Ron. I've been trying to avoid thinking about him all day. Hermione deserves to know. But I won't tell her. She'll never know. If I tell her, she might never forgive me, and I don't know if I'll be able to get the whole story out without crying.
