Day 7
8:56 AM"She has it."
She.
She has it.
'She' is a girl. 'She' is Katniss, Tris, or Hermione. They all still live. One of them has the ring. Thorin told me right before he died yesterday.
The only logical thing to do is to find them all. Find all three girls, and see which one of them has the ring. One of them carries it. Finding them is the only way I'll end up with it, although it will be hard. It'll be like searching for three needles in a haystack.
This morning, I woke up determined. Today is the day I'm going to find the ring. I can feel it. I'll find it today. My plan will go to action.
I eat a banana for breakfast, and then hit the road. Even though I don't have the ring, I'm pretty well equipped. I have three bags, mostly full of food. I have two swords and a couple guns, though I don't know how to use them. When I find the ring, I could win. I could go back to the Shire. I could be in Bag End again, and live out my life in peace.
I walk along, stepping in the 12 inches of cold snow. It goes up to my knees, which is humiliating because on normal people it goes up to their shins. It finally stopped snowing, but the weather isn't any better. It's cold, cloudy, and windy.
I would be afraid of other tributes hearing me, but I'm a hobbit. Even though I'm not invisible, I'm extremely quiet when I walk. It's a gift.
I continue to walk along, wondering what I'm going to do if I run into a tribute that's not one of the girls. I probably won't be able to kill anyone without the ring. I'm not good at fighting. I'll just have to run. Just like I ran from Peeta last night.
If only I knew who killed Thorin. If I knew, I'd know who has the ring. But once I got to Thorin, whoever killed him was gone and he was dying. He couldn't tell me who has the ring in time.
I continue through the woods, pushing Thorin out of my head. Last night was hard without him. Even though he seemed annoyed with me and could have been very mean, I liked him. He was a good friend. I just can't believe he's dead. I can't believe anyone that's dead. Mostly everyone who's dead was really good and received 12's, from what I can remember. All of the tributes have the capability to win, except me. I got a four. I'm the one that everyone thought would die first. Even I thought I would die first. But here I am, still alive when there's only about seven or so left.
Hours pass by. I walk through this dreaded snowy arena, tried, cold, and lonely. The only thing different from bushes and pine trees I come across was this lake. I didn't take water from it because I have some and I didn't trust it at all.
That was hours ago, though. Now it's gotten colder, even though it's probably noon or one in the afternoon. The wind is colder than it was before, and it's more cloudy. It looks like rain, even though if it were to rain, it would be snow. If it snows another time in this arena, I might scream. I miss warm weather and hate the snow.
I suddenly come across something different - a dead bird. I stop at it and look down. It's a robin, a small one. Probably a baby. There's a hole that goes right through its head. I back away, very disgusted. What could've put a hole through a robin's head? Who would do that?
I'm about to leave it, but then I remember and realize something. I examine the hole again. I randomly recall being with Legolas the first night in the arena. He was cleaned his arrows from the blood, and I helped him. I know how big those arrows are. It looks like an arrow would've fit through that hole...
