chapter seven >> the final exposure
||~ ~ ~||~ ~ ~||
DAY SIXThey all wake up late. Raehee is the first to awaken, she skips breakfast and walks straight into the living room and sits in the centre of the couch. There's still empty chip bags and soda cans half-filled on and around the coffee table along with scattered pieces of the board game. Memories of last night of fill her mind. She doesn't feel uncomfortable. She doesn't feel exposed. She doesn't feel awkward. She feels relieved, like a crushing weight has been lifted off her chest.
Jungkook wakes up next. He's surprised that he has no desire to stay in bed and weep silently, he actually feels more alive today compared to any other day in his life. For once he could probably say 'I'm fine' and almost mean it. Maybe things are getting better, maybe he is getting happier. He begins to walks past the living room and sees Raehee there on the couch observing the messy room, he smiles at her as he walks closer.
"Good morning," he says quietly yet cheerfully and she turns in his direction, a large grin on her face as well. "Good morning." He walks into the kitchen and grabs the full box of bran flakes cereal, he then walks back into the living room and sits on the couch next to the girl. She smiles at him and snatches the box from his hands. "Hey," he says with a smile and she shrugs mischievously and sticks her hand in the box grabbing a large amount of the cereal. "I'm hungry," she mumbles through the mouthful making him laugh. A real laugh.
They both just sit there, TV off, lights dim, room messy, sun shining through the window, eating dry cereal. Happy.
Jimin and Soojae wake up at practically the same time, a simple coincidence. Jimin walks out of the boys' room first and begins to walk down the hall just as Soojae steps quickly out of the girls' room, they both come in sudden contact and Soojae falls back on the ground. "Sorry," Jimin apologizes quickly and holds out his hand to the fallen girl. She shrugs and takes it and stands up.
"I'll get you back for that, Park Jimin," she teases and smirks.
"I'll be waiting, Song Soojae," he mumbles and smirks at her.
They both walk past their markings on the wall in the hallway until they reach the living room. "Ooo, cereal!" Jimin exclaims and grabs the box out of Raehee's grasp just as Jungkook reaches into it to grab another handful. "Hey!" She speaks loudly and he smiles at her with squinted eyes as he turns the box over to read the label.
"Ew, what the fuck, I'm not eating bran flakes." He looks around the room and spots a bag of chips with some left in the bottom, he cheers as he picks it open and sticks his hand inside.
"Chips?" Jungkook begins.
"For breakfast?" Raehee continues.
"You're disgusting," Soojae finishes off.
"You're right..." He trails off and glances around the room until he finds what he's looking for, "needs dip." The other three stiffle in laughter as they watch Jimin eat his unhealthy breakfast.
"Good morning."
They hear someone's groggily voice behind them that makes them all turn in that direction. The other teens glance at each other, Taehyung acted odd last night, when they were all spilling the treacherous secrets of their pasts he just stayed quiet and comforted them without sharing any specific details of his story. They feel like he doesn't trust them, which is wrong of course. Infact, he trusts them too much. He doesn't want to share his past with new people, when ever he does the friendships never last long. Nobody wants to get close to him.
