The boys held their shopping bags sleepily in the back of Angelo's mum's car. Damen was resting his head on Angelo's shoulder.
"Damen..?"
"Hmm?"
"There's something I need to.. T-tell you..." Angelo's voice was sullen and scared.
Damen looked up, causing Angelo to make eye contact with him. "What is it?"
"I... Damen, I don't have long to..." Angelo's voice cracked and he squeezed his eyes shut. "L-l-live...!"
Damen's eyes widened, and he opened his mouth wordlessly. "It's not April fools day, man..."
Angelo was crying and holding his head in his hands. The car slowed down, curving off to the side and coming to a stop on the road. His mom had heard their conversation. "Angelo, dear, I can tell him for you..." She said softly. ((Damen could not finish writing this part, as it brought to much pain.)) that's how the demon found out that his angel had the worst sickness of all. Cancer. The time went by to quickly. All that fun, gone. Hanging out with Angelo was pain-filled. He had to lean on Damen for support, and he cried so much. His eyes were beautiful, like the sky. The sky on a rainy day, just when the clouds begin to part and you see the first hint of sunlight. But it hurt so much. He was in so much pain. His feathers were wilting, and if they didn't fall off on their own, he would pull them out. He had scars on his wrist. Angelo hadn't had scars since he had met Damen. The day that Angelo started coughing up blood was the day that Damen got terrible news. Angelo only had a few short months left to live. He would be flying to Florida, with his family, to enjoy the rest of his days. Damen stood in Angelo's drive way as his car pulled away for the last time, Angelo sleeping blissfully unaware in the back seat. Damen fell to his knees, no longer able to keep standing. The sun had gone down long ago, yet he stayed there, a tiny part of him hoping that his angel would return. It wasn't until his parents came and forced him to go home that he finally gave up.
Beautiful eyes. The eyes that were always in his mind. Laughing, oblivious to the sickness. To fast, gone in the blink of one, beautiful, eye. Months turned into days. Days turned into seconds, until he received that email. That horrible email. The one that stated the time of the angel's fall. Damen was broken. And he had lost his only friend. He couldn't help feeling angry. He did not believe in any god, but if there was one, he cursed it for bringing so much pain. There was a reason that demons and angels couldn't be together. Damen only hoped that his angel was shopping at a Hot Topic in heaven, wondering when his demon would join him. Part of Damen hoped it would be soon.
((The end. I love you, angel...))
