Entry 3: Death's Gospel

It has been five days and the spread of Death's merciless rampage continued. News reporters claimed it was the end of the world. One million people died. Some prematurely and some died gruesome deaths. She wanted to live this horrible life that way so be it. Besides, I cannot talk her out of it, God and Jesus are working overtime in the court, and I... I am angry. Death wasn't such a pain in my butt. We used to have laughs, heck back on Eden times she enjoyed my jokes. I mean sometimes she still does but of course only when it pertains to death. Not to mention the multiple time lines where we were comrades. And sometimes even an in separable duo. I just wish for those times again. I thought to myself not even hearing the door open.
"H-hello Life." someone said from behind me.
I was so startled I jumped and when I turned to face a possible surprise visit from Michael the arch angel with more paperwork. I was greeted by another Angel, female long wingspan, truly one of the more beautiful Angels. Comparable to the mother of humanity and well the cause of Death.
"Who are you? And why are you in my office?" I asked still slightly discombobulated.
"I-I am Dionysus, Guardian Angel. They named me after a Greek God, though I don't know why." She replied.
"I usually do field work given my job status but Good appointed me under your command. But I have an emergency to report death had gone on a rampage one million souls are dead and by the looks of your desk increasing, go to her and end this madness.
"Holy crap! She will wipe out the planet! Goodbye Daisy" I said hastily
With that I was gone to intervene with Death. I pulled her from the Earth and took her to a place she had never seen, the void. A barrier between the underworld and heaven. The netherworld is world is where Lucie lives I heard he's still on fire down there so we don't establish connection to him. Death tried resisting my grip. Death's resilience was strong but she didn't brandish her scythe as she did with most creatures who even gave her a hint of a "threat".
"Quit being a stubborn mule Shinra. It's just me. " I said. I let go of my grip on her hand and dragged her by the collar on the back of her clothes.
"Why did you come? Shouldn't you be handling the paper work on my random collections?" She asked rather frustrated.
"I am taking care of it. I came so I could stop the source of the problem back to the underworld." I replied.
"Liiiiiiiiffffeeee," Death whined, "You're no fun at all you know, this is miserable. Come on at least let me take out a few more! "She pleaded.
"I am not allowing you to end anymore people's chances, just because you feel like it. I turn my back for not even a minute and you've killed a million people, I think that's enough torment for the mortals." I replied.
"Oh lighten up Life, besides you sound like my mother. Get out of the norm man!" She said still whining.
"You don't have a mother." I said a-matter-of-factually.
"Perhaps Eve could be considered my 'mother' to be perfectly honest." She replied, pondering the thought.
"Now get your hands off me, I can walk back just fine on my own." She replied.
"No, you will just run and go back to senseless killing." I replied.
"I won't.  Come on now, don't you trust me? An old friend?" She attempted using that card again.
In good spirits she would leave me to pay the bills for the drinks in Rome or for the Colleseum seats and pull this stunt. This time it's for her freedom.
"I do not." I replied simply.
"If you don't let me go, I'll touch you with my scythe. " She threatened.
"You wouldn't. " I replied.
I knew she would in fact, that's  why she scares most people including her fellow reapers now that Hades declared himself boss of the Underworld. However I know who wears the pants in that dark world. Her logic is all life will meet her one day and did not mind hastening the process.
"You know I would," Death held her scythe and have it a swing  that barely touched my wings to emphasize the point she wouldn't  mind killing me. The swing was too close for comfort as I know full well if that touches me it takes at least a week to find a new form. Humanity does not have a week in heaven to wait.
I sighed and gave in to her request fully ready for a chase.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" She laughed maniacally, "TAKE THAT FOOL!" She yelled  as she made a run for it.
Out of the two I am the more mature as I am older than the childish death who still has yet to learn the ways of the world we were assigned to. I sighed in frustration this world is not a game and she is playing with the wrong person.
"Enough of your games!" I yelled, my voice booming like thunder but it did not reach death  as she was farther along than I.
My eyes glowed pure white my hair cackled with lightning, and my wings spread and with a simple step I was traveling as fast as Death was, catching up with her quickly. However, was more agile than I was doing more field work than I ever did.  The ordeal took the rest of the day.
"I've*pant* finally *pant* got you know!" I said catching my breath. Even though she exhausted me physically I created a snare trap  just for this occasion.
"How could you make such a trap for a girl? Hanging upside-down like this will make my skirt concede to gravity you know... "she remarked.
"What skirt? You haven't worn anything remotely feminine since before the Black Plague." I said.
"Ah yes, 'The Black Death'. That was one of my best moments. There was a lot of misery in that one, isn't that when they started saying 'bless you' after sneezes? " Death asked rhetorically.
"We're getting off topic, I came here today to stop your rampage." I stated.
"And you successfully did that, while also neglecting to fill out all of your paper work." Shinra said victoriously.
"You did this just to spite me didn't you? Yet a few days ago you were being lazy about work." I said annoyed, as I turned around heading towards heaven. Leaving her to dangle by the lone tree in the void.
"Hey! HEY! Where do you think you're going just leaving me here?! COME BACK YOU MORON! " Death shouted at Life.
"Serves you right," I muttered as I flew back to my office ready to cramp my hands doing more paperwork.
However, when I got there Dionysus was standing behind my desk and instead of the usual hurricane of papers that was on my desk prior to that "fun" experience was nothing but a huge organized stack of files. Each in alphabetical order and in three groups condemned, heaven, and second chance/alive.
"Dionysus, you did all of this for me. You didn't  have to you know." I said to her feeling guilty for leaving her to organize these alone.
"It's  okay you had to take care of an emergency. Besides, now you have more time to help repair the damage Death caused... I have a question sir is Death, really all that scary and why did you call me Daisy?" Dionysus asked.
"Nah, Death is a real softy at heart... or at least she was. We had a long history of friendship. Until the age of the Black Death. When I cured the plague that was the day Life and Death no longer could agree with each other. As to why I called you Daisy, I figured it better suited you as a female angel such as yourself should not be named after a wild drunk such as Dionysus." I said.
" That's what Dionysus meant oh my that sounds dangerous. " She said innocently.
"Ah I see, you must be a younger angel. Allow me to pull up your record on my computer..." I said as I typed her name in the registry "Dionysus, cherubim in 1849 raised in the 6th temple... nothing new. And let me guess," I said exiting from the screen "you love cherry blossoms, you were created in my dreams, despise violence, love the new thing called anime, and you love to spread joy among the world, and your favorite color is purple. Is that right?" I asked.
"Yeah how did you know without looking at the database?" She replied.
"Trust me Daisy, I am the very first Angel to come into existence I know a lot. When God made more I was more like a template. After all I am the very essence of existence next to my counter part death after humanity made a foolish choice. That is why when you go see her hanging around in the void tomorrow, you will see she is my distinct opposite now do not go around shipping us Daisy. After all I know enough about anime to know what terms like "OTP" and "Ship" means." I answered her in an almost father like manner.
"Wha- wha- what do you mean I get to see her tomorrow?" Daisy asked nervously.
"She is hanging out in the void she won't  hurt you she knows I will interfere. Oh and tell death that I sent you so you could quit... hanging around!" I said laughing at the sheer hilariousness of that joke, because it was true.
"Besides this is your first mission under my command., and your official first day on the job. Good luck and Godspeed." I said and with that she left my office as I continued to chuckle, reminiscing  of the times when death laughed at my jokes...
Gee...times were good huh.. I thought as I took a gaze into my computer again to see the upcoming trials.
So another Steve comes to be judged eh? Wonder what for, he is a young one, a mere teenager I wonder how death killed(I mean collected) his soul...
