I glanced back at my little group nervously. Taline, Laveda, Slick, Sagiv and Lucifer's own son- Lysander. They all looked as nervous as me, but they were determined.

I turned to the doors, but before I could step forward Lysander blocked my path, giving me an eyeful of his silky midnight black feathers. In any other case, I might've been irritated by the act.

I could take care of myself, I had been for years. But this time as the glass doors swung inward of their own accord, I felt relief and admiration.

He really wasn't like his father... He never would be. He just had to see that.

"I was wondering when you'd turn up," came the chilling voice of Lucifer. It seemed twisted, more powerful and even more bone-chilling than before.

It had to be because of Jake and his soul essence.

"Father..." Lysander started. "How...good to see you." His voice was anything, but happy or overjoyed to see his malicious father.

"Yes, well, how very not good to see you. You can go back where you came from, Lysander, you're not needed anymore."

That was my cue. "He's not here to be your puppet, Lucifer."

"Oh, he was never used for that, Rave Blithe, and you know it. As well as the rest of your friends." Lucifer's voice was as cold as his eyes were burning when they peered over his son's shoulder to pierce my gaze.

I might've flinched, but suddenly Taline spoke up before I took the opportunity.

"Enough banter. Lucifer stop all of this. The war will be too much for both realms and the living one. You can't really intend on going through with this."

Lucifer suddenly stepped to the side, to look at Taline. He made no move to lunge at the Arch-Angel, but Lysander still held his arm out in warning.

Lucifer shot his son a wicked smile before turning back to Taline.

"Ah...if it isn't the Arch-Angel that had been sent here many years ago. You should be dead, actually, I thought you were. Why don't you head back to your hiding place before I finish the job." His voice was calm, but the threat was heard loud and clear.

"I'll take my chances with saving these realms rather than dying in your foolish war!" The old Angel spat acidly.

Lucifer's fake smile faded and he simply backed into his huge chamber.

"You cannot defeat us. Heaven shall be mine...and so shall Earth. Get out and fight for me or die going against me!" Lucifer roared and moved to shut the door.

Lysander sprung forward and crashed into the glass doors, shattering them.

"I don't think so, Father. I've come to take my role back!"

"No... You havent. I'm your replacement now and I shall Rule next. It was meant to be." The rumble of a new voice broke all of our attention away from Lucifer.

He was nothing like the visions I'd actually had of Lysander instead of beautiful black eyes, coal black hair and glorious feathered wings, Jake-the-Daemon actually had blood red eyes, burnt brown hair and bat wings like a Cambion. His head was adorned with horns and he had a thick, pointed tail.

With one glance I was shaken up, but not from any sort of certain feeling towards Jake. Oh no. The power from Jake was...immense and the sight of him was horrific. He was something that the humans assumed Hell's Daemons looked like.

What else startled me was if I looked closely I could practically see the power waves radiating from him into Lucifer.

The thought was sickening and unsettling that Jake had that much power, that he was feeding it to Lucifer to make him more powerful and still maintaining his own power.
