The alarm went off exactly at one. Lauren, already in her jeans, t-shirt, and high-tops, grabbed her iPod touch and stuffed it in her backpack. She put her long brown hair in a messy bun and being the tomboy she is, grabbed a ski cap and put it on. She put in her contacts and put her glasses in the bag.
She was ready to run away.
Since her home's an apartment complex, she could easily climb out her bedroom window and jump on her bike and get the heck out of there. Tonight, though, there were adults outside, so she went behind another apartment to go the road without being caught. The empty street.
She felt the wind brush through her clothes as she peddled towards the gas station that only had one car parked in the parking lot.
She quietly parked her bike against a gas pump and went to look for Mason. She checked her phone clock and it said: 1:13 a.m..
"Where the heck is he?" She muttered. "If he's late, I swear to God-"
She was cut short when she ran heads with someone... someone with long, black hair. "Mason!" She cried.
"Hey, Lauren!" He greeted, huffing and puffing. "Sorry I was late, there were two people in front of my house making out, like right in my driveway!"
She stood back. "What did you say?" She asked, half confused.
"Yeah, I'm serious, man! I even took a picture of it!" He flipped open his phone and opened the picture up.
She could feel her pupils dialate as she slowly said, "Mason, that one," She pointed to one of them. "is not a dude."
His face went green. "Oh, crap."
She grabbed the phone and put it in his pocket.
"You know we have to be prepared for anything, right?" She asked, ignoring the mental scar in her head. "If someone acts suspicious, we need to react immediatly. We have to make sure not to blow our covers."
"Agreed." said Mason. He looked around and said, "Look, those are the kids I saw!"
It was obviously was two girls, and Lauren reconized the one with blue and blond hair as her old camp consular. She remembered her name was Violet and she's seventeen.
She had no idea she was, you know.....
"Oh, gosh! They're coming this way!" He wailed. "If they find two kids outside this time at night-"
She then wrapped her arms around his shoulders and pressed her lips on his. It's official, she thought. I hate myself now. She let go and looked around. "Coast's clear." She grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder as if nothing happened.
He just stood there, smiling and shaking his head. "What was that for?"
"One of those girls were my old camp consular," She explained simply. "I couldn't let her reconize me, so I had to turn around and kiss you. Simple as that, man."
Mason grinned. "I knew it."
"What?"
"When we first met," He explained. "I said you'd fall in love with me in three weeks. I was so right!"
She punched his arm and laughed. "Sure, I'm just in love with you." She joked. "I'll bet you love me."
He shrugged. "I wouldn't call it love just yet."
She stopped everything she did. Did he just tell me he likes me? She talked some sense into herself and ignored the statement. "Well, are you hungry?"
He nodded. "But, the clerk's in there. If he sees us now, the cops might get involved. And I'm sure kissing me won't help anything."
She sighed. "Stop talking about that. I didn't want to, I had no choice." She pulled a bag of chips out of her bag. "My little brother is gonna hate me now."
Mason just laughed. "Wow, that ruined the dramatic moment."
"Sorry," she apoligized. She turned around and walked away.
"We're supposed to walk the other way."
She turned and walked the other way. "I know, idiot."
