Cold, dark, scary.

Those are the top three words to describe that night.

I don't think we'll ever fully understand the joy they must've felt when the sun finally rose up against the Pugent Sound. They have survived the night.

    They were officaly runaways.

"I can't freaking believe you ate half the bag of chips in five and a half hours." Lauren said to Mason when they walked near the McDonalds.

"Sorry, mom." he joked. He looked at the McDonalds and looked at Lauren. "Are you hungry?"

She nodded. "Are you or are you full from the potato chips?"

"Ha ha, remind me to laugh later." He replied sarcasticly. "Let's get McDonalds for breakfeast."

After about ten minutes of conveincing, it was gonna be Masons treat.

"Are you sure you want to spend all your money right now?" she asked, gripping her twenty-five bucks, in case.

"Yeah, I'm sure." He turned. "What do you want?"

    She sighed. "Um, a hashbrown."

He blinked. "Wow, that's not a lot. Are you sure?"

"I'm pretty positive." She smiled obnoxiously.

    "Wanna split an O.J?"

    She shrugged. "Sure."

He smiled and walked into the McDonalds, leaving her by herself, outside  McDonald's, with only her thoughts to keep her company. She took out her small laptop and opened it to her homepage.

   It said:

Two WA Teens Disappear Sunday Night, May have made a runaway pact

She clicked on it and and on the screen was two pictures of them and an articlem. She just stared at the words, not wanting to read what they said.

She stared at them even when Mason returned with the food. "What'cha looking at?" he asked, sitting down next to her.

"They know." was all she could say.

"What do you mean?" Mason asked, confused.

"The media..." she turned towards him. "They know about us." She pointed out the article and Mason had to strain his neck to see the tiny words better.

He looked stunned as he closed the laptop and grabbed it from her. "That means we need to work harder, then." He stood up and and helped her up. He took the blanket and drapped it over both of their shoulders as they started to walk away.
