We stood there, looking around for the monsters. No where to be found. "What's the map that we planned out say? Are you sure we are right?" another kid asked nervously. Annabeth checked it again. I was looking over his shoulder when all of the sudden, something was coming. A pretty woman stood. I clearly knew what that was. "The Empusa!" I whispered to them. "The what? She wasn't planned or expected? What is she doing here?" Percy asked.
"Well, my theory is that they used what we would least expect, so we can't prepare. Or it might be because they want to trick us." Beautifully and perfectly, like a model, the Empusa stood there looking at us like she was innocent. "Are you sure she's an Empusa?" They all asked. They started doubting me.
"What are you all talking about? Can I be a part of this little conversation of yours?" She asked.
"Um, sure. Hello. What's your name? your age? you single?" Jordan from the Hermes' cabin asked. I could sense he was making a huge mistake.
"My name is Courtney. I am sixteen years old. Yes, I am single. What's your age, name? you all single?"
All except for me gave their names, ages, and information. I really gt an uneasy feeling about this. "What's your name, and age?"
"Oh, it's um, I don't really like it. I'll go by my nickname, Jay. I don't talk about my age very often."
"Why not? What year were you born? Are you ashamed?" That was it! Now, I knew this wasn't good. It wasn't good at all. I decided to save all the other's lives. "Hey, what about our family? Their worrying about us! We promised we'd get home at nine o'clock!"
"Oh, that's a shame. I'll see you around, I guess." The others all questioned me, so I put my arm on some of the other's backs and pushed and pulled them to go around a few big, giant stones. That's a Greek thing. "What did you do that for? She is a beautiful single girl." They all started talking over each other doubting me. "SHHHH!!!!!" I demanded. "In my book, I read about her! I also know that enemies always want you to lose! Who do you think they're gonna send to fight you? Someone you're prepared for? Or would they send someone you'd wouldn't expect to trick you?" The others told me that my book was wrong. The Empusa found us quickly. "Oh, hey. I thought you had to go home?"
"We do. I was reminding them of what my mom told us. They must have forgotten." The others gave my lie away.
"Smart one." She chuckled very devilish.
"What's happening? Percy asked.
" I think she's figured me out!" When she smiled you could see a fang sparkle. She grew bat wings, her hair grew flames, and claws. "Now for brunch." Leaping into the air, I put my hand onto everyone's backs, and made them duck while warning them to duck. She missed us, but them tried to come after us. Drawing our swords, for the hunters their arrows, we all started threatening her. "Oh, darlings. you can't hurt me! I feast on human, and half-blood blood, and flesh! I have claws, scales, bat wings, and flaming hair!" It started getting hot, and we almost passed out. I don't do good with hot temperatures, but I managed to stay awake and alive. We all made circles. She flew away in a blink of an eye. Now, she stood behind us. "Now! She's not expecting it! Perfect!" I demanded, and we all at once, shot at the Empusa. The arrows, swords, and knives were all over her, and she fell onto the rocky ground. We took our weapons. They all cheered. "Leader! You are thee one. We're so sorry we doubted you. Please lead us now!" Even the Ares and Athenians cheered. I guess I was their leader now. Annabeth had to go to the bathroom. The property was somewhat damaged. Police came and held us in custody. I didn't know their was a jail in Mount Olympus. They said we needed two thousand dollars to get out, or twenty Greek coins. The Greek coins were gold coins with Greek gods and goddesses printed on them. Shortly Annabeth came to our rescue with sixty dollars and ten coins. "Will you accept this?" She asked them. They agreed to let us out, and we had to promise we wouldn't go back for ten years at least, and not to do damage. We shook hand on that.
"Today was crazy." I told my best friends in the motel room, as we packed.
"Uh huh. Mission finished, bud." They agreed. We headed for the airport.
