Bella's POV:

It's Renesmee's 7th birthday today. The years have flown by. During the day we are with Renesmee. When she goes to sleep it's just Edward and I. We decided to homeschool her.

"Why didn't I get to be homeschooled?" I ask Edward while we are sitting on the couch waiting for Renesmee to wake up.

"Oh, I don't know," Edward replies with a grin on his face. Renesmee walks in rubbing her eyes and yawning. She smiles at us.

"Happy birthday! What do you want for breakfast?" I ask her.

"Thanks mommy. I don't know," She says and crawls into my lap. She takes my hand and puts it on the top of her head. She's done this since she was three. I kiss the top of her head and hand her to Edward.

"Happy birtbday!" Edward says.

"Thanks daddy," She says.

"You could have eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, cereal," I say while looking through the fridge and pantry.

"I want apple pancakes please," Renesmee says. Edward gets up and she climbs into a chair. We make her pancakes and sit with her while she eats. When she is finished her puts her plate and cup in the sink then sits back down with us.

"Can we go see grandma and grandpa and Alice and Rose and Jasper and Emmett?" She asks. Edward laughs a bit at the fact she always names everyone off. I smile at her.

"Yes, but do you want to get dressed first?" I ask. She shakes her head.

"Ok then at least brush your hair then we can go," I laugh. She runs to the bathroom.

Renesmee has seen us sparkle and run at crazy speeds. That's normal for her. She's been around it her whole life. I'm not sure why it was weird for me when I was younger. Maybe because when I went to school that's not what I saw.

Once we are at the house everyone starts handing her presents and telling her happy birthday. We let her open presents from the family before we give her ours.

It's a necklace. A shiny diamond attached to a shiny silver chain. I've still got the necklace that Edward got me when I was ten. It hasn't come off since I got it. Rose helps Renesmee put the necklace on.

Later in the day we sit on the floor playing board games. Renesmee has always loved them. We've got an entire closet full of games at the cottage.

While we sit and play board games I begin to realize something. I'm not sure how it came to my mind just now. But I begin thinking about the Voltori. When they find out we have a human child they'll want her to be turned when she is no longer a child. That leads me to think of the future and how much pain she will feel not just physically but mentally as well.

There is only one thing in this world that is inevitable. Death. Even for vampires. When the world ends, so do we.

We'll turn her one day. When the time is right. When she is much older. When she has had her fair share of bleeding and bruises and broken bones.

"Do you want to go home?" Edward asks Renesmee when he sees her rubbing her big brown eyes with her little hands. She nods and her eyes grow heavy. We take her back to the house. Once she is ready for bed we lay with her. Edward on her left me on her right. She's out within a few minutes.

"I worry about her," I say to Edward.

"Why?" He asks.

"Remember how I was?"

"Yes, but she's not as stubborn as you."

We lay in bed. At first we say nothing. Then Edward says,

"It's weird not being able to hear your heart beat."

"It's weird not being able to feel my heart beat," I reply in a whisper. He kisses the top of my head. Then my cheek. Then my neck. Finally he kisses my lips.

"I love you My Bella," He whispers somewhere in the night.

"I love you Edward," I whisper back.
