The summer consisted of us cleaning the rooms of the house to make sure that it could in the future become a home for a member of the black family. I knew though that it would have to be the next generation of black because I definitely wasn't going to be using it anytime soon. It came to the time that Masie needed to go back to school, they went back earlier than the others so we had to go back to our house in France to get ready to go to school. I promised that I would try and attend the order meetings in the evening but seeing as I work in another country it was going to be difficult to work around that. Taking her home to our house that hadn't been lived in for 6 weeks was hard as we needed to clean but with the help of Pixie it was easier as she was able to clean using her elf magic.
I took Masie back to school with hug and left her in favour to go to work. It was different being home alone now as Max wasn't going to home until spring as he had jobs lined up. I know that his job finishes today and he has a few hours down time before he goes back under again. He came to my desk to see me after we have been apart since Christmas. I gave him a tight hug and we both flooed home so we could catch up before he left. The whole catching up thing was just me talking to him about everything that was happing in the wizarding world that I believed was going on. It was hard for him to understand seeing as we were so far apart but I knew that he would after meeting and seeing the things I saw.
My lunch break was over after an hour so I went back to work and carried on going until it was time for the order meeting. I apperate straight from work to the outskirts of the street and walked in, still wearing my work robes and I had some paper work with me. I needed to do this during the meeting or during dinner afterwards. Sirius smiled at me as I walked in as I knew that I was early seeing as it started at seven but it was only half past 5. I sat down at the table and attempted to do my paper work at the table. I had removed my robes and folded them leaving me only in my skinny jeans, black boots and my white blouse. It was suitable for being an Auror so that's all that matter. I worked until the meeting started which just paused my work and I carried on afterwards. The other children go back to school in a week meaning that they were still upstairs attempting to listen in on the meeting.
During dinner I carried on with my paperwork until Mad Eye came up behind me and started reading over my shoulder catching the attention of some of the other Aurors as they saw my robes and the crest that was imprinted on them. Sirius smirked at me and started to read the discarded paper work which was all to do with the hunt on him. He barked a laugh as he read my description of him which consisted of him being deathly dangerous and should be approached with caution. I rolled my eyes but carried on writing my account of the incident that happened while being on duty. Mad Eye started to offer corrections to my writing that was making me get angry and everyone could notice this but he didn't care at all about my feelings. I don't mind someone making a comment but continuously got on my nerves. I turned to Sirius and told him about Max and that he came home today but left again soon after. That caught everyone else's attention as nobody really knew much about my husband and it was a shock to all when they learnt about him. Sirius rolled his eyes at my comment which earned him a slap on the head from me.
We were behaving like real brother and sister not people who had to look after each other by default which what we were like when we were younger. Dinner conversation turned casual after a while which was okay with me until Mrs Weasley suddenly spoke up about that she had found some photo albums that were in the drawing room and she was wondering if we wanted to view them. The fear was evident on my face but I quickly hid it as Sirius agreed without a second thought until I stared at him which made him realise what could be in them folders. It was too late by that point as she had magically brought down ten different albums and placed them in front of us informing that there were many more upstairs. I recognised some of them from when I was younger, they were all engraved with the black family crest and the dates that they ranged from. I opened the earliest one and found myself looking at our mother and father looking happy with one another. I smiled slightly as I turned the page cautiously to see lots of photos of Sirius and Reg as they grew up. Each of the albums were the same but as you went through the photos became less happy and the children were covered in more bruises, the smile became tighter on my parent's faces. The last album was pretty much the same until you got to the last four pages which was where there was a little girl holding hands with her mother and the smiles were back but only briefly as the anger took over from that.
Mrs Weasley got the other albums down and started to look through them which had escape our notice until she gasped quite loudly making us turn to her. She had found the album, the one of our fears. I stumbled into a standing position to try and get it off her but she wouldn't let up. Staring at the photos in shock as once again the children were taken from the room. They were photos showing the abuse that we had faced growing up. There weren't many photos in the album but there were enough to show the different stages of the abuse that we were facing. She had tears streaming as she saw the final photo, by this point I had taken a seat and had let my tears flow visibly. Sirius had his eyes closed and his head on the desk, I quickly stood up and left the room. I hadn't wanted to be part of the horror that was in that room again so I went home and fell asleep. I knew that the next day I would have to face them again and explain what had happened during them dark times.
The next day I arrived at headquarters in plenty of time knowing that I needed to clear up what was in those pictures instead of leaving Sirius to do it all the time. Walking in using my keys instead of knocking which is something I haven't done it a while. That made everyone jump as the lock was turning which made them panic. Inside was the entire order meaning that today was a large enough meeting that I could escape afterwards. I nodded to the members of Hogwarts staff which was only polite as I sort out my brother so he could explain to me what was going on. He was talking with someone when I entered but he pulled me over as he saw Mrs Weasley making a bee line for. He whispered in my eye as the other guy was talking that he had avoided her all day with much success. She had us here as I was watching her with my eyes and she spoke to professor Dumbledore and McGonagall I saw both of their eyes find mine making me quickly look away. As they called the meeting to order we all sat down letting it take place as normal.
At the end they caught us though making us stay seated along with the others who would be staying here and were present at last night display. I sighed and let them carry on believing that trying to make it easier now was going to make a different to us. I sat in the kitchen of doom listening to the Headmaster speak to us in turn making us realise that they were making no sense. I rolled my eyes and looked away letting them know that I really didn't care about what they had to say. Their opinion my life before Hogwarts wasn't what I cared about right now. I don't think I ever would care that much about it to be honest but knowing that I should was the correct way to behave. The Professors were trying to make sense of it all but it didn't really matter seeing as it was over 10years ago. I had got over it and so had Sirius so it shouldn't have mattered anyway but to them it did. They obviously felt like they had failed us both in not noticing the abuse signs. Standing up "Well if you want to make this right you should know that Harry shows signs of abuse, as does he." I spoke in my Auror voice meaning that nobody will mess with me. I also had pointed at Severus Snape which shocked everyone in the room. I sat down feeling a sense of achievement but then noticed that everyone was staring at me which wasn't the look I was going for.
The front door of Headquarters opened and in came in Andromeda Tonks with a look of pure rage on her face, following her was her daughter looking quite sheepish. The anger was evident on her face as she stormed into the kitchen grabbing Sirius out of his seat and pushing him against the wall shouting at him. He didn't even flinch which was good going, she was screaming at him about not telling her about any of this. When she had finished noticing that everyone was watching her shout she gathered herself up and sat down calmly. Puling me and Sirius into a hug reassuring us that it was all okay now. The rest of the order left leaving us to the kitchen ourselves. I watched Andy and Sirius together, it was different to how I remember but I didn't know anything since she left before I could make any with standing memories. All I had ever needed was a voice of reason and here she was, letting me not forget anything that had happened to me.
It was late by the time we had got up from the position at the table, I forced myself to leave the safety of the house and apparated to my own which was cold and dark seeing as I hadn't been there since this morning. As I walked up the path a light was on in my house, there shouldn't be any one home. Pulling out my wand I cautiously walked through the door and went into the living room where my husband sat with a smile etched on to his face. I hugged him so tightly as he told me that the operation that he was on was over and that he had down time for the next 6 months meaning that he could attend meetings with me and such.
Thank you all so much for reading this story. I know that the consistency of my updating hasn't been to good but I am going to try and work on that and get a sort of schedule going. Thanks for reading and I hope you have enjoyed this chapter. Megan x
