I didn't know how to feel about the turn of events. On one hand I was extremely excited to work with her, my crush. I wouldn't have to steal inconspicuous glances at her because we will be doing the project together. To be honest all I wanted to do at the moment was to jump out of my chair and do a happy dance while singing "I'm so happy!" But then on the other hand I was scared and worried. It's Danielle freaking Ellison. Will our conversations be limited to "yes, no, maybe" . Will she even talk to me?
I was freaking out, half my grade depends on the assignment. Worst case scenario, I will do it all by myself. My scholarship depended on it and no one was going to take my dream away! Not even Her.
I don't know how long I spaced out for but when I came back to reality Mr. Andrews was calling out the last pairs.
"Turner and White. Now that everyone knows who you are working with I will give you the rest of the class so you can start planning. Six weeks seems like a long time and it is, but three weeks from now I want to see what you have. I will go over it and if I'm not feeling it you will have to start all over again."
Typical Mr. Andrews. He was a perfectionist when it came to music. He has returned some of my works with a note at the top saying " I expected more from you Daniels". It sucked at times but I trusted his judgment. If he expects more from me it's because he knows I can do more or do it better.
"This is a teamwork assignment" Mr. Andrews continues "One is responsible for the lyrics and the other is responsible for the music. Believe me it's not easy trying to capture with music what the other person is trying to express with words. Two different minds probably in completely different places. Bring those minds together and make me proud."
Everyone started to paired with their partners and I notice that Danielle wasn't moving from her seat. Maybe she wanted me to go to her then.as I was walking toward her seat I made the mistake of looking at her face. She was angry, no not angry, furious. Her face was completely flushed, and not in a good way.
I walked all the way to hear seat I stand in front of it like an idiot. I didn't know what to do or say. I took a deep breath trying to gather all the courage I had left before saying, "I guess we are working toge..." I couldn't finished. She lifted one of her hands as if doing the 'talk to the hand sign' or simply "stop" sign.
She got up from her chair leaving me there, and went to Mr. Andrews desk. But I wasn't going to just stand there and do nothing, she holds half of my grade.so I just followed her. What was her problem anyway? So pretty and so fuck*ng bitter.
"Mr. Andrews with all do respect. I think you made a mistake!" that was the most I have heard her say in years.
"What do you mean Miss Ellison?"Mr. Andrews asked her, looking a bit annoyed.
"Well I don't know if you are aware but I only work alone. I don't know if you have read my file but there is a note in there? You can ask the principal if there is any conflict or confusion"
"As a matter of fact Miss Ellison, I have seen your file and the note. This assignment does not interfere or break any of the specifics of said "note"." He made the imaginary quotations in the air when he says note. Curiosity was starting to picked up in me. Note in file? Interesting.
"If you insist then you should pair me up with Nicholas." she told the teacher with this intimidating air about her. Like she was sure that the teacher will accommodate her needs and request. Like a spoiled brat.
Mr. Andrews wasn't having it though, "I'm not changing anything Miss Ellison and if you still have a problem go talk to the principal yourself. I think we are done here. Go start your work, time flies."
