Yesterday in music Mr. Andrews gave the class the last 20 minutes to get together with our partners to work on the assignment. I sat next to Danielle and played my guitar since she insisted on ignoring me the whole time. I wasn't going to let her get under my skin.

Today was the sports team meeting. We were scattered all over the gym. We needed to set practice schedules since some of the guys are on both the football and basketball team. Nick call all the guys to the center of the gym and we got down to business and got done fairly quickly.

We were all leaving when Nick called me. "Do you have a minute Daniels?"

I have completely forgotten that he asked me to stay behind to "talk". "Yeah, just give me a minute to tell Matt to wait for me."

I asked Matt to wait for me for a few minutes and told him that Nick needed a word with me. He gave me a curious look but he let it go.

As I was walking back to the gym I was running through possible scenarios in my head trying to figure out whatever Nick wanted to talk to me about. I knew it was about Danielle, but what about her? Was he going to give me a list of more ridiculous rules to follow while I work with her? Maybe he was going to give me an instructional manual to deal with her. I would really appreciate that one.

"So what's up?" I asked him ready to get this over with.

"I wanted to talk to you about Danielle." He says a little hesitant.

"I figured as much; let's just get to the point then."

Nick runned his hand through his hair, letting out a big breath, "Look Camden, Danielle has been through a lot and there is a reason why she is the way she is. It's not my story to tell but I don't want you to think that she has something against you or anyone else. Just do what she asked you to do and you won't have any problems working together."

I opened my mouth ready to protest, but he wasn't done.

"It's not a joke or a spoiled girl whim or quirk, it's a serious matter. So I'm going to ask you, no not ask you, I'm going to beg you please limit yourself to do the project only and do as she asked you to do please."

Ok. I was way more confused now. A serious matter? How does he expect me to do that? Way to make a person curious. I wanted to find out what was going on. I will find a way to get more information about her, but for the time being I just told him, "No problem man. I just want to do the assignment without any problems. I will do whatever it takes to get it done."

"Thanks Camden, and just remember that it's not a whim. Underneath that facade, Danielle is a really nice and sweet girl, that's has gone through hell and back.

"No problem Nick." We shook hands before leaving the gym.

I walked towards Matt's car on a daze, lost in thoughts. I felt as though something about this "arrangement" was off. Like there was so much more to it. After Nick's request, well he actually begged, I needed to find out the real reason for their actions. The only problem was , how was I going to get one of them to tell me? Danielle was a dead end; I knew I wasn't going to get anything from her. Nick was a loyal friend, he already told me it's not his story to tell, so that was another roadblock. I will have to find a way but I need to do it by myself. As much as I wanted for Matt to help me, I knew it was better not to get him involved. I had have this nagging feeling that if by any chance I got to know more of the story or some information, I was not suppose to tell anyone. She talked to me when we were alone in the room and Nick did the same today. It's like they were letting me in on a big secret. Or so I wanted to believe.
