I had a restless night and by the time I was finally reaching a deep sleep I heard the most annoying sound, Darn alarm clock! It was time to wake-up. It felt like I went to bed twenty minutes ago. I stayed up past midnight waiting for a text message that never came.
Groaning, I got up showered, Matt was picking me up today and I need to meet Danielle in homeroom ten minutes before first bell. I wondered if she came to her senses. We needed to reach some kind of deal or we will both flunk music.
I ran down the steps. I needed to get something quick for breakfast. Mom was at the kitchen drinking something I presumed was coffee.
"Good Morning Camden! Feeling better today?" she asked as soon as she laid eyes on me.
"I'm tired. Didn't slept good last night. How was the rest of the dinner?"
"Same as always, the Barker's are really nice." I was trying to avoid any conversation related to yesterday's dinner.
I ate some pop tarts and drank some milk. Mom was quiet that morning. It just made me think that maybe she pretended like everything was good for my own sake.
"You don't need to give me a ride today, Matt is going to pick me up"
She looked at me with a playful smile, "Wasn't planning on giving you a ride anyway."
"Do you know that sometimes you can be an evil, evil lady?"
We laughed together and I hugged her before I went outside to wait for Matt. The sooner we got to school the better. I wanted to be the first to get to our homeroom. I will try to make this process as easy as can be. I didn't wanted to give the princess any reason to b*tch and complain. We needed to act like the almost adults we were. And if that meant make some compromises, so be it.
Matt was on time. That's a first,I thought . " What's up man? You look tired." he asked as soon as I got inside his car.
"I didn't get a lot of sleep last night." I answered as Matt drove off to school.
" Still thinking about the princess? I'm pretty sure she will get over it and work with you. You do realize that she in the run for valedictorian, she wouldn't just let everything go south because of a stupid music project."
"Stupid music project? A little respect for the music lovers my friend. I will forgive your ignorant comment just because you just made me remember me that little piece of information, the valedictorian part."
"The last I heard Oscar was still the top student, with Danielle and Alicia tied for second place."
" I don't think Danielle nor Alicia have a shot against the walking encyclopedia. Sometimes I think that Oscar is a robot or his brain was replaced with a computer."
" You are not the only one with crazy theories about Oscar. Jenna was telling me that he is some sort of alien."
"Only Jenna." we both laughed about it for a while bringing up some more theories about Oscar.
The closer we got to school the more anxious I grew. I didnt know what she is going to say, didn't know what to expect. I really needed to find a way to get through that stone cold heart of hers.
Matt noticed that something was off. "Is something bothering you Cam?"
"Besides me meeting Danielle in homeroom 10 minutes before class? No, everything is cool"
He took his eyes of the road for a second and looked at me before asking, " And when exactly did you guys set this meeting up because you didn't mention anything about it yesterday?"
