I couldn't stop thinking about Danielle as I was driving home. The things she said. Why did she had the need to feel safe? And when she said that she feels like Mad World was written for her. That just made me think that she was depressed. But why?I keep running through the lyrics of the song in my head. Maybe I was over thinking it but things were starting to make sense.
Their tears are filling up their glasses No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
Went to school and I was very nervous, No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson, Look right through me, look right through me
I'm no Dr. Phil or a psychologist but needed to know more. I wanted to help. But how could I help? How can you help someone that doesn't want any help? Maybe she was screaming for help and no one was paying close enough attention to notice.
I didn't know why but I felt this uneasiness in my heart. There was something big going on and I wasn't quite getting it yet.
I started to put the pieces together. There was that so called note in her file. What was that all about? And her rules. Especially the one about not touching her. Maybe she's germ a phobic. I can actually pictured her being a germ freak.
I tried to convinced myself a million times that I shouldn't care, she was not my friend, she was just my classmate. But she wasn't just any classmate.I've known her since the fifth grade.I have a crush on her for Christ sake. Plus, it was my nature. I needed to help her because I felt like I was involved. I knew things now that maybe no one knew.
But mostly I wanted to help because I cared. I wanted to see her smile again. I cared because I want to be the one that made her eyes shine again. I cared because it was her, my princess.
I let out a big sigh, "Danielle Ellison, what am I going to do with you?"
I drove almost on a daze. If I hadn't seen Matt's car in my driveway, I would have probably driven by. He was just what I needed right now. Matt and his craziness will take my mind off of Dani.
I followed the voices to the kitchen. Mom was laughing like a mad woman, meaning Matt was in the kitchen with her. "Hello there." I said, interrupting whatever crazy words were coming out of Matt's mouth.
"How are you doing honey?" Mom walked towards me and gave me a hug.
" Fine. Matt, what have you been telling my mother here? I could hear her laughing all the way to the driveway." Exaggerating much? Sometimes I think that Matt is right when he says that I'm melodramatic.
"Nothing much, just telling your mother how much I love cats."
"You what? Are you insane?" is he serious.
"What's wrong Camden? Matt was just telling me that he once had a very hairy cat..."
"Mom I don't want to hear anything about Matt's cats." I glared at him. How could he? I I didn't let mom finished the retelling of Matt's cat story. She was probably oblivious but I was not.
Mom looked at Matt with a wicked grin. "Matt, I think you are right. I need to do some research, I think that our dear Camden does suffer from some type of PMS or PMDD." They both burst out laughing. Mom had tears running down her face because she was laughing hard.
