Let's get on with Part Two!
Let's start with powers. As I addressed in the weapons chapter, powers are okay to use. ONLY IF there is a REASON why they have powers. If they get powers just because, or they were born with it, NOPE. They need a GOOD REASON for having powers.
Good reason: They were a test subject for an experiment and were given powers
Okay reason: Their parents are magical beings
Bad reason: They live in space or something
Which reason do you think is the best? I've used powers for six OCs, the dolls from my story Imperfect. They were CURSED DOLLS so I think it's alright if the curse INCLUDED powers. If you make your OC shoot fire from their fingertips, GIVE THEM A REASON WHY AND TELL HOW THEY GOT THE ABILITY TO DO THIS. My most recent OC can open a portal between the real world and the underworld BECAUSE she died as a sinner and went to hell, in which she became a demon.
PROXIES. I've seen SO many OCs who are Proxies. It's okay if you use this on one OC, but not ALL of them. Slender has three Proxies. OH HOW ABOUT I MAKE TWENTY MORE! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Sometimes, an OC will become a Proxy then fall in love with one of the other Proxies. I have seen a Proxy who wasn't Slender's Proxy, which I thought was a little more creative than, SLENDERMAN GETS A FOURTH PROXY!!!!!! Also, Slender's proxies are basically his best workers. If your OC is a complete and total Mary Sue, THEY CAN'T BE A PROXY.
Origin of a name. I addressed this back in my chapter about babes, but I'll address it again. Well, THE NAME NEEDS AN ORIGIN. A GOOD ONE TOO.
Good Reason- It ties in with their killing method or something from their childhood
Okay Reason- It's the name of a disorder they have
Bad Reason- It sounds cool, it's a variation of their first name
Here are some example names! Feel free to leave a few in the comments if you'd like!
Terrible Names: Jess the Killer, Laughing Jamie, Eyeless Jordan, Bella Drowned
Bad Names: Evil, Demon, Murderer, Torture Man, Dommsday, Shadow, Darkness
Okay Names: Blue Blood, Colors
Good Names: Bipolar, Schizo Maniac, Underworld
Unique Names: Mental Twitch
THAT'S JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION!!!! But anyways, be sure to oblige the origin of the OC's name in the backstory! It need a reason, and the reason needs to be addressed!
