"Where the heck were you girl?" Miss Hansly shouted hitting my cheek with such force that I fell to the floor.

"I just went for a walk, I promise. All the other kids get to go on walks," I cry.

"But your not like the other kids. Last time you went out you talked to someone and almost got me arrested!" she shouts again, this time kicking my rib cage, "Did you talk to someone this time too?"

I didn't anwser her. I just didn't want to get hurt again.

"TELL ME NOW GIRL!" she shouts and pulls me up by my arm.

"No, no I didn't," I screamed as her grip on my arm got tighter and tighter.

"Good, now get out of my sight," she said throwing me across the floor.

I sat there crying and her helps clicked out of the room. I laid there for who knows how long until I felt someone touch my arm where she grabbed it. I cried harder from the pain and tried to get away from whoever this was.

"Stop don't hurt me. Stop please." I said just above a whisper.

"I won't I promise, but who did this to you," a male voice asked.

I looked up and saw the man I ran into. I opened my mouth to tell him but I remember that she tells me not to talk. So I ran off up to the attic and cried to myself.

Chris's POV

I stood up, stunned from what I just saw. the only thing running through my mind was 'Who in there right mind would hurt an innocent kid?' after a few minutes for just standing there a woman came out in a bright pink dress that showed a little to much.. if you know what I mean.

"Why hello there sir. what can I do for you," she said with what i thought was the creepiest smile I've ever seen.

"I a... ran into a little girl today and followed her here she seem really frightened and I wanted to make sure she was ok," I said.

"Oh," she said gritting her teeth, "Did she tell you her name?"

"Madeline," I reply.

That was the last straw for the woman her face completely changed and she had the meanest look in her eye. And i hear her say under her breath 'if she wasn't frightened now she will be.' Then she put her smile back on.

"I'm sure she's fine sir, thanks for dropping by," she said and started to push me out the door.

"I'll come back with the police ma'am if you don't let me see her," I said.

The mention of the police made her stop in her tracks and let me go. I started up the stairs yelling her name.
