My Best Friends Brother

They Found Out

Kelsee's POV:

Watching over Leo's shoulder, I saw Jason fall to the ground on the balcony. I scream. I scream so loud that Leo might have lost his hearing in his right ear.

Doctors and nurses swarm to him. Picking him up on a gurney to take him some where. No one is telling me anything. Leo went and got me some coffee while I waited in the lobby for someone to let me know something so that I can go and see one of my friends.

I can't believe this is happening. Everything seems to go in slow motion. Leo gets back and hands me my coffee.

He sits down beside me and takes my hands into his. "Hey, my mother is wondering where I am. I told her, but she told me that I need to come home now. I hate to leave you like this, but I promise as soon as I can, I will be back. Let me know if anything happens."

I smile. "I'll be okay. You need to go home and not be stuck in this stuffy hospital."

He looks at me with such sorrow. "Kel, please eat something too. Even if its out of the vending machine. You need to eat something."

I nod, looking down at my lap. He kisses my head and then he leaves. Now I am by myself, sitting in hospital that won't even tell me if my friends are okay.

Dad won't worry where I'm at, but I decide to call Ashton to let him know.

Me: Hey Ash.

Ashton: Hey Kelsee. Where are you? I haven't seen you all morning.

Me: I am at the hospital.

Ashtons voice gets serious.

Ashton: What's going on. Are you okay?

Me: I'm okay. Lydia and Jason got into a car accident last night. Lydia is in the ICU. They won't let me see her, then I saw Jason and he is okay, but now they think he over dosed on his pain medicine. I don't know. They won't tell me anything, Ashton, I am so scared.

Ashton: Kelsee, I will be there as soon as I can. But I am about an hour outside of town looking for a job. I'll be there as fast as I can. Love you.

Me: Love you too.

And I hung up.

I can't cry, nothing comes out. I just sit here waiting in the lobby for someone to tell me something.

Ashton finally comes in around 2 in the afternoon. He rushes to my aid. Comforting me and holding me.

Time seems to go by slow, but around 2:30, a nurse told me Jason has been asking for me and that I can finally see him in room 246.

Ashton decided to stay in the lobby because he really didn't want to see his best friend like that, so I promised I would tell Jason, Ashton is thinking about him.

I ride the elevator up to the second floor and look for room 246. It really wasn't that hard, just a few turns. I throw my cup of coffee away along the way.

I take a deep breath and enter the room.

Jason is the only one in the small room.

I come out from behind the curtain so he can see me.

"Hey Jason."

His eyes look hollow, his face still red and he has a lot of tubes going into him.

He looks up at me. "They found out."

"What do you mean?"

"Doctors, parents, they all found out about my back, my past."

I rush to his side. "Jason, where are they now?"
