Sam drove about ten minutes to the town park. He told me to wait in the car while he went to do something. I wasn't paying any attention to Sam. I was busy trying to control my emotions. I took the time to finish my text to Lucas. Ending it with "have a good life." I blocked his number so I didn't have to read his smart ass reply. I looked up from my phone just in time to see Sam sprinting back to the car. He opened my door . "Come on. Follow me." Sam grabbed my hand. When I got out of the car, he told me to close my eyes. I obeyed his request and held tightly to his arm and hand, careful not to stumble as he led me through the parking lot, across the grass, into a shaded area. Sam weaved his arm out of my grip and stood behind me.
"Okay open your eyes."
I opened my eyes to a picinic table with atleast three dozen assorted colored roses and the portrait he had painted of me propped in the middle. It was so beautiful. There was also a couple of gift bags on the bench next to picinic table but I didn't take the time to look in them. I covered my mouth, surprised. No one had ever bought me flowers before. The closest I'd gotten was Lucas telling me he was going to buy them but didn't because of soemthing I'd done.
Sam wrapped his arm around me from behind.
"I wish I could've done this the moment I knew how much I liked you. But now, since you already know how much you mean to me and how badly I want to be with you, it seemed like a pretty good time. Scarlet, we're going to get through everything life throws at us together now. Wether it be Lucas popping up being a dick, or my stepdad hitting on my mom, we're going to keep our heads straight and focus on each other. Keep me sane and be my girlfriend?"
I looked over at Sam. He squeezed me hand tighter before grabbing my face and pulling me into a kiss. I pulled away smiling. The first genuine smile i had shown in a while.
"Ofcourse."
I rested my head against Sam's and then hugged him tight.
