Jermaine in MM
*Joy POV*
I'm back at The Joint, another night another dollar. Me and Faye used my car and Delano drove his own. Right now, ever since last night, we haven't really spoken. She was just on the phone texting and whenever I tried to spark up a conversation, she always hit me with those one word replies. I stopped trying after awhile, she's just salty, it doesn't even matter.
Least she could've done was drive her own damn car if she was gonna treat me like this.
"Excuse me, Ms?"
I turned around and I gasped. He was tall and light skin with big blue eyes and pink lips. "Hi, sorry, what did you need?" I asked, getting ready to make him a drink.
"I asked if you were alright. You looked deep into thought" he asked, over the music. I nodded my head. "Yeah I'm okay. Just having some issues" I replied and he nodded his head. "Boyfriend?" he asked and I laughed. "Please, I never had one in my life." He looked at me weird, and I shrugged. "I just want my career, you know?"
"So you want to be a bartender? That's a pretty weird goal, you can do so much more with yourself" he said and we both laughed. "No dummy, I want to be a doctor. This is just so that I can pay for school" I told him. Oh God, why am I talking to him like I've known him for years? But his presence makes me really calm.
"Are you okay though? You looked like your going through something" he asked and I shrugged. "I don't think that I need to tell you, considering that I don't even know you" I replied, and he rolled his eyes. "I honestly don't know why I came over here either. I just felt this weird gravitation towards you, and I feel like your upset. And it's way more, and way deeper than just 'an issue' with someone. " he said, and I looked at him for a long time. "How would you know that?" I asked and he started at me for the same longevity. "Because sometimes I feel like that too. I feel that same loneliness that you feel, that same sadness, everything. I know how it is to put on a face. Like you are now" he said and i shook my head. "Look if you not buying a drink, I'm going to need you to go, and enjoy my friend shake her ass or something" I said, getting angry. He doesn't know anything, he's just fucking crazy.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... I'm sorry" he said and I looked at him. I know exactly what he's talking about, with that gravitation towards him. I can't explain why, but I just like his company.
"My name is Jermaine. But you can call me Jay" He said and I shook his hand. "Hi I'm-"
"Jay!" Faith said, walking up behind him. I didn't even know she was coming. "Oh, you met my best friend, Jay, this is Rain" she said, introducting myself. He looked at me and looked back to her. "This is your best friend?" he asked, like he was disappointed. "Yeah, baby, what's wrong?" She asked and I was taken aback. "You say that like it's a bad thing" I said, and he turned back to me. "No not a bad thing but... damn, I just thought... I don't know, I didn't know ya was friends" he said and Delano came up behind them both.
"Well if it isn't the man of the hour, Mr. Jay Campbell" He said as he greeted Jay. "Wait, ya know each other?!" Faith and I both said and they both nodded. "Yeah, my bro from Middle school, he moved away, but man, I didn't know that you came back!" he said as he dapped him again. "Yeah, been living low key for awhile now. Been taking online college courses and shit" he replied and then looked at all three of us. "Hold up, YA know each other? " He said, and Delano nodded his head. "Yeah, these my best friends since High school, They known each other since kindergarten but they being petty towards each other for dumb shit. You know, females" he said and Jay started laughing. Me and Faith both grilled Delano, and then looked at each other. "Girl, I'm sorry okay?" I said, for at least the third time today. "Man, it's okay, you know I love you baby" Faith said and we hugged it out. "now that you met my future husband, let's-"
