How Does Marking Work?

Marking is pretty much marriage. Only an omega can be marked and only an alpha can mark. An alpha can only mark an omega when they go into heat. Every omega has two scent glands on their neck, when an omega gets marked an alpha will bite one of the scent glands. The alpha must bite hard enough to break through the skin and leave a scar, this is why it happens during a heat; so it's less painful as the omega is in bliss. A beta cannot mark an omega or be marked by an alpha. An alpha can still bite a beta in the same area however it won't have the same affect and will also injure the beta. It will hurt a beta even more then an omega because the beta isn't built to be marked, and they don't have the sharp canines of an alpha to make a mark on an omega.
