Zave stares at me with wide eyes. "What... What was that?" He stutters. I shake my head at him, lost for words. I reach to touch my shoulder. I hiss in pain at the contact the open wound stings underneath my fingertips. I turn to look at his own shoulder. Several small punctures, creating a perfect circle. From where each of my teeth turned in to small pointed fangs. His shoulder is bright red and slightly swollen. It must sting like a bitch.

"Does it hurt?" I nod my head to his shoulder. He looks down at it. Then back at me, shrugging. Wrong move. A hiss of pain escapes past his lips at the movement. "Sorry," I mutter, looking down at my hands in my lap. One hand has red blood running down it. I wipe my hands on the bed sheet.

"What the-" My head snaps to the direction of Zave's voice. He stumbles backwards on to a different hospital bed. His eyes have gone blurred. "Zave?" I move to get up, but a wave of nausea comes over me.

I can't see properly, white fog fills my vision.

"Hello my child," The voice that sounds like a bell chiming enters into my head.

"You again?" Zave's voice echoed my mind. He'd met her before?

"Ah, Zave my darling, Long time no see, How's the pack?" The voice chimes to him, deliberately making her tone louder as if she meant something by it. "You know exactly how it is," Zave's voice replies bitterly to her. "I am really sorry about that, I told you, find the witch, break the curse,"

"I don't even know the name of the bloody witch!" Zave barks through the mind link, causing pain to the back of my head. "Zave! In head voices, please!" The voice chimes back mockingly like she's scolding a small child whilst laughing.

"Oh don't bother with you fanatics today, Eleanor, I'm not in the mood," So my mothers name is Eleanor? I had never knew, my father had never spared that detail. I mean why bother? I would of wanted to track her down. Either that or Otis hadn't wanted me to. So he took that memory away.

The voice laughs. "When are you ever in the mood, mister big bad Alpha?"

"I'm beginning to lose my patience with you, Eleanor!"

"Oh what are you going to do to me, Zave? Go all wolfy on me, don't forget you're in my head, not me in yours, I learnt my lesson last time, Your wolf can't hurt me when you're in my head,"

Zave growls through the link. "What do you want, Eleanor?"

"Mother," I add in, feeling left out of the conversation and wanting to interrupt before Zave lost anymore of his patience, an angry Mutt was not a good mutt. "Alexis? This is your mother?" Zaves voice seems to chime closer to me than when it did before. "I believe that's what she told me, isn't it Eleanor," I taste the name on my tounge. It feels unnatural and wrong but I knew it would sting her a little bit.

"Tsk tsk, Alexis, Show your mother respect won't you,"

I laugh loudly in my mind. "You took my respect for you the day you left me in a baby carriage by the men's toilets in the hospital. Hoping father would stumble upon me before someone else did," I snap at her angrily. Eleanor laughs this time.

"So that's what he told you?! All them years and he couldn't bother coming up with a better story?! The cheek of the man! Ashamed! That's what he was that's why he did what he did!"

My mind buzzes with confusion. It's a trick, she wants you on her side! Pull yourself together, Alexis! "Enough with your lies, Eleanor," I snap meanly. "I take it you're the one behind what just happened?" I question her angrily.

"Somebody had to. But it wasn't me. A different witch. One against Otis' ways. They did it,"

"But why?" Zave's voice chimes back in sounding thoughtful and supportive for me. "The stronger your mate bond, the stronger your chances against Otis. Have neither of you read the riddle yet? Come on it's not that hard to work out!" Eleanor chimes in an annoyed state.

"Well what is it then?" I question her.

"I ... Hunter... Wolf... Heir... Witches... Defeat,"

"What?"

"Alexis the link is being tampered with, most likely a witch, trying to stop us from knowing, we need to go before they effect us!"

"How?" I ask desperately. "How, Zave!?"

"Zave?!"

The world comes tumbling back in to vision. Zave's face infront of mine so I stare right into his eyes. "For goddess sake Alexis! I thought I had lost you then!" My breathing is heavy and sweat runs thickly down my forehead. "I didn't know how to get out," I pant. "I didn't know how?"

Zave pulls me into a hug. Cradling my panting body. "I was so scared, Zave, I just... I just didn't know what to do," I pull away, searching his eyes. Hoping he had all the answers I would ever need. He looks at me lovingly. "You've never been in a mind link before, have you?" I got to shake my head, but then nod. "She's done it before. But she always left before me," I tell him sadly.

"That's because she's in your head," He taps my temple lightly. "When your in someone else's," He taps his head. "You have to leave, you just imagine breaking the bond, and then, poof! You're back in your mind and body," Zave smiles at me kindly. I nod my head at him slowly.

"So what happened?" Zave sighs and looks deeply into my eyes. "Someone was trying to break the connection, or tamper with it, they really don't want us to know what this means," He points to his chest, shrugging. "Which means we really should find out,"

"Then we need to talk to Nana Sue, she'll know, she knows almost every language known to man!" I state proudly. Beaming up at Zave hoping to impress him. "Well that's very helpful," He chuckles, smiling down at me as he moves to stand up from my bed. "Where will we find her?"

I put my gown over my head, forgetting I was topless. "In the library most likely," I tell him, accepting his hand to help me off the bed and to stand.

His mark catches my eye. "Does it still hurt?", I question him as I move to place my hand on it gently.

As soon as the skin touches skin. Zave's eyes are black, and the room smells of arousal as he pushes me back to the bed, I grab onto his shoulder even more to stop myself from falling backwards.

He tries to attack me with his lips but I push him back quickly. Once my hand leaves his shoulder he's back to normal.

"I'm really sorry," I giggle. "I didn't mean to," I tell Zave as I awkwardly scratch the back of my neck.

"It's fine," Zave jokes. "We just have to wait for this to go down before we go to the library," He winks, pointing down at his lower region. I try to stop the blush from creeping up my cheeks, but hide behind my hair, knowing I'm most likely already beet red.
