"Otis."
"Otis?"
"Otis."
"Otis?!"
"For the love of god Derek! Yes Otis!" I shout louder than intended. Derek visibly flinched and I roll my eyes.
"I just... I don't understand, he's the one helping us?" Derek questions, his mouth opening and closing like a goldfish.
"I thought that too, however it does explain why he decided to help keep us all hidden, it made the chances of meeting my mate smaller," I shrug in reason.
"Pardon me mam," Lucy intervenes. "But if Otis wanted to shorten your chances of meeting your mate why not kill either one of you?" Lucy finished with her eyebrows raised, and forehead creased.
"It's likely that Otis knew the repercussions he would experience from the council, that and it would start a war between either species," I shrug.
"Then why curse my pack?" Zave questions. My forehead creases with my frown.
"Maybe to keep you distracted?" I question myself, this wasn't making sense to me. Wasn't it the actions of Zave's pack that led us to him in the first place? Wasn't it Otis himself that revealed my prophecy to me? Could Otis actually be trying to help?
I shook my head to rid my thoughts. I thought long and hard, recalling a few weeks back when Otis had hit me with his magic, trying to remember what he had said to me.
"Think Alexis"
Eleanor's voice echoed in my mind.
"A dark spell, that your daddy made 18 years ago, when you were just 6 months old in fact"
I gasped in surprise as the memories came flooding back.
"He wrote it on you, dear Alexis, right here
Time to relieve the spell, Hunter"
"And there you have it my dear child, the truth about your father" Eleanor spoke smugly in my mind. "What do you mean, the truth?" I questioned, irritation filling my voice. "Oh, my poor poor Alexis, thinking all this time, so highly of her beloved father and previous leader, that he was such an amazing genuine man,"  Eleanor teased me. "What the hell are you talking about, Eleanor!" I snapped, my fists clenching in anger. "All will be revealed, darling," Eleanor snarled. With that the bond broke and I lost contact with my mother. I slammed my fists onto the oak table in front of me. Splintering the dark wood. "Fuck this!" I screamed. The 4 pairs of eyes snapping to me in shock.
"You okay, boss?" Mandy asks in concern, her face etched with worry. I shake my head. Running my hands through my blonde hair in frustration. "It's not, Otis, he hasn't done anything wrong, he was... he was following orders," I shook my head.
"Who's orde-"
The rest of Derek's sentence was cut off as I realised my mistake at rubbing my shoulder, pleasure passing through my body at Zave's dominant growl as his body landed on mine with werewolf speed as he pushed me up against the mahogany walls. His left hand grabbing my right leg, hitching it up across his waist. Before pinning my hands above my head with his large, manly hand. Zave blinked in surprise as soon as the contact from my mark was removed. Mandy cleared her throat awkwardly and at the same time me and Zave let go of each others bodies. Zave tactfully positioning my body in front of his to hide his excitement from the previous position.
I cleared my throat as I smoothed down my top. "As you were saying, Derek?" I spoke, cutting the tension like a knife through butter. Derek blinked. Shaking his head as though to rid the previous 30 seconds he began his previous question.
"Right yes of course..." Derek nodded.
I stared blankly back at Derek, my forehead creased in confusion. Lily nudged him with her elbow unsubtly as a slight prompt. Derek looked back at her, his own eyebrows creased in question. Mandy interrupted with a loud sigh.
"For the love all things holy!" Mandy through her hands up. "Who's fudging orders was Otis following!" My eyebrows raised at Mandy's raised voice. "Boss," she mumbled out quickly with a hint of respect.
"Well," I began, taking a step forward only to have Zave pull me back by hips as quick reminder to stay put.
"If we're going by my mother -who I wouldn't trust with even a pile of crap- then, I think she means, my father," My forehead creases. Could my father really do something like this to me?
"If you dont mind me saying,Mam, but you're fathers... not with us anymore," Derek spoke softly. "I know hes dead Derek," Of course I do, how could i forget.
Yes, of course you do. Eleanor's voice echoed with so much sarcasm I could practically hear her eyes rolling to the back of her head.
