Part 3: Luck is not my best card
Hayden's Pov
I cursed under my breath as I stepped inside the house. I was uncovered by the one person that I wanted to be hidden from as much as possible. But because I haδ the worse luck ever Grayson saw me. And since I knew him very well he would try and contact me as soon as possible. I didn't want or need that. At least not right now.
Sighing I closed the door behind me a little harder than wanted. I left the keys by the table near the front door and walked into the kitchen, where Michaela probably was. As I stepped inside the room I saw her sitting on one of the stalls surfing on the internet. I was right.
I opened the freezer and added some ices into my drink that I had bought from the cafe earlier. When I accidentally bumped into my... ex? Yeah probably.
"Hey Hayden." Michaela greeted me happily. As happy and cheerful I woke up this morning, everything vanished from the moment I saw Gray. " What's wrong?"
She knew me very well and that's why I loved her so much. I was a wreck when I left from New Jersey and Michaela was one reason. I looked at her with a sad look and she frowned.
"Grayson knows I'm here." I informed her and I took a sip from my drink. Michaela rolled her eyes at what I said and made me confused." What?"
"Really Hayden? Did you think that you could hide from him like forever?"
"Yep. That's what I thought." I told her.
"Well, you're wrong. It's a small town. Sooner or later you would have to face him."
"I didn't believe it will be that soon. I just got here last night. It's way too early Michaela." I protested. I sounded like a baby at the moment but can you really blame me?
"I remembered that you told me you are brave enough to tell him finally the truth." She really messed with my nerves. Come in, I needed support here.
"I was clearly telling you shit love."
"Thanks for being honest with me, love." She mocked me. I laughed at her and a memory passed through my mind. I really missed her those three years. We had never been apart. We were friends from our mother's belly. I know her my whole life. And I can assure you that those three years being away from each other could never be replaced.
"You're welcome." I laughed." I need to think again. I don't know how to tell him, what to tell him."
"It's pretty simple actually Hayden. Just tell him. I know in fact that Grayson can listen and understand quite good. Most of the times." She cheekily told me. I rolled my eyes at her and her encouraging words.
"Expect me to just go and tell him this? 'Hey Grayson I been hiding something from you which isn't really important?' No way!" I had made already my mind on this way. I could not just tell him the news like it's a normal thing to say. Like you say hey or how are you. I needed to take seriously this and found the right way.
"I'm just warning you that you will not be able to find the perfect and so oh suitable way. The clock it's ticking and from the three years you took to found the way to tell him well I just know you would be late once again."
What a bad person! I couldn't believe her, did someone pay her to remind me my mistakes? Did she enjoy doing this? Thank you so much Michaela. But she was right, I couldn't seem to make my mind on anything.
"Well whatever. I will find something. Don't worry about me." I assured her." You can rather worry with your own problems. Like you know... Jay Day?"
