Today was actually a really nice day, uneventful. I was almost finished with painting Kellin's old home, and it actually looked pretty good. Of course, his dad was bossing me around, but I didn't care, I just get to go home to the most wonderful family.
Kellin has been getting a lot better ever since his mom died. We were both hurt from it, but knowing that Kayleigh got to come home and see us every other day made both of us happy.
"You missed a spot!" Mr. Quinn yells, and I groan loudly, leaning down to where he was pointing to paint over it. I go back up to where I was painting, the master bedroom balcony, and I see Kayleigh sitting on the floor, with two dolls in her hand. She stands up, opening the door, and I give her a smile.
"Hi, Kayleigh." I say, and she smiles brightly, her adult teeth just starting to pop in. She looked a little like Kellin, they had the same black hair, but she had brown eyes, like her dad.
"Hi, Vic the painter." She says, and I smile, returning to painting as she watches me curiously.
"You go out with Kellykins?" She asks, and I burst out laughing at the adorable name she gave Kellin.
"Yes, I do, he's amazing. Is that what you called Kellin when he was here?" I ask, and he nods, sitting back down in her little pink tutu.
"Yeah, he was really great and I miss him, a lot. He left one of his teddy bears here, too, can you bring it to him for me? Can you adopt me?" She squeals, and I smile, leaning against the frame of the sliding door.
"I can definitely bring it for him, when i'm finished painting the whole house. And I don't think I can adopt you, sweetheart." I say, and she pouts.
"You and Kellin would be such great mommies and daddies, can you take me to see him soon, one day? I heard you have a son too, I wanna meet him! Is he cute?" Kayleigh asks, and I smile even more.
"I promise you, i'll take you to see him soon. I do have a son, he's three years old, and he's definitely very cute." I say, and she smiles.
"You're really short, just like Kellykins." She giggles, and I laugh, fixing my snapback.
"You are too, you're very small, but one day, you'll grow into a gigantic human." I chuckle, and she smiles, her eyes twinkling.
"Really?" She asks, and I nod, grinning.
"Tall enough to be an astronaut?" She asks, giggling, and I smile brightly.
"Short or tall, you can be an astronaut. No matter what you set your mind to," I start, but i'm cut off by my phone ringing.
"I'll see you later, okay, Kayleigh?" I ask her, and she smiles, nodding.
"Bye, Viccy!" She calls, and I smile brightly and wave to her as she prances away, downstairs into her house. I answer the phone.
"Hey, babe." I say, and Kellin lets out a little sob, making my heart stop.
V-Vic? O-oh my God, V-Vic, are you okay?" Kellin asks shakily, and I stop in my tracks, dropping my paint brush and starting to panic.
"Kellin? Where are you, are you okay? Where's Theo?" I ask frantically.
"I sent Theo with Mike and J-Jaime because i-i'm so scared, baby, i-i'm so scared." He whispers, and I jump down on my ladder, running up to Mr. Quinn.
"I have to go, now." I say, and he shakes his head.
"You can't, you have to finish." He says, and I grab the collar of his shirt, catching him off guard. Is he fucking kidding me? This is his fucking son we're talking about.
"I'm not staying! This is my family we're talking about! I quit!" I yell, and Kellin starts to cry, making me worry even more as I grab my hoodie and run towards my truck.
"Kellin, baby, talk to me, what happened." I demand, starting my truck, and Kellin sniffles.
"S-Someone left a note, V-Vic, they're o-out to get you because of T-Theo, please, come home, I need y-y-you to be safe." He sniffles.
"Baby, stay calm, okay? I'll be home in less than five minutes, okay? No one is going to touch you, me, or our son. I love you." I say, starting my truck, and he sniffles.
"I love you, too, Viccy." Kellin whispers, and we both hang up, as I start to drive my truck down the street quickly. I can't let anything get to Kellin.
Someone quickly cuts me off as I start to drive faster, and I gasp, hitting for the breaks and quickly saving myself from a sudden disaster.
But sadly, as I tried to drive faster to get home quicker, i'm stuck by another truck, sending me flying in the air and my vision turning black.
