Chapter 5

I close my eyes and run to her, only to smash into her split seconds later, sending us both to the ground. There's laughing above me, but it's not mine or Aurora's. I look up and see a man standing over us, clutching his side and laughing. He has deep brown eyes with hair to match, and the formings of a beard along the cusp of his face, even reaching across his upper lip. It was clearly styled, so he didn't look shaggy. His hair went up in a quiff, and it looked sorta fluffy. He was sort of short for his age, but had a slightly muscular build.

Without warning I'm shoved to the side. I had landed on Aurora. 'I guess that's why I never hit the floor.' Though I continued to sit on the floor for awhile, Aurora stood up and looked at the man. "Who are you?" she asked.

"Well, my name's Jordan. Jordan Mar-"

     I cut him off. "Captainsparklez."

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh, Yeah. What're your names?"

Aurora hauled me off the floor. "I'm Aurora." She said.

I dusted myself off, then looked him right in the eye. "My name is Luna. And I reserve the right to call you Sparkly Pants from this day forward." Aurora facepalmed beside me.

There was a moment of awkward silence. "Sure." He said. "I've been called worse." We all burst into laughter, each on the verge of tears. "S-So." Jordan started, stuttering with laughter. "Why are you guys here?"

I took a deep breath to steady myself from laughing. "We-We're here to get a motorbike so we can reach Aurora's town faster. I've also hurt my ankle, so it'll save me the pain."

His smile dropped. Aurora stepped in before the silence became awkward. "What about you? How'd you get here, since you live in L.A?"

He looked down, seeming slightly upset. "I was out here to help the 'Make a Wish' foundation when the gas came down." We all fell solemn for a moment. Those poor kids... Finally, Jordan spoke again. "As to why I'm in this exact place, I have a similar reason. I was trying to get a car or something, not just to make travel faster but it has storage and I can sleep in it." I nodded in agreement.

"That's a good idea. Umm... Quick question." Jordan turned to me with questioning eyes. "Do you think that you could drive us somewhere? We have our L's but don't really have any driving skills. It's not too far..."

He chuckled. "Sure. I don't exactly have anything else to do, besides not die. The whole car thing is actually why I'm here. I found an abandoned Jeep, but I'm trying to find a few new parts for it."

Aurora put her arm on my shoulder. "Does it have a bike rack?" She asked.

"No, but it can." I speak up to clarify just one thing.

"I hope you know what you're looking for, because we have no knowledge of vehicles of any kind." I admit and laugh sheepishly. He chuckles.

     "That's alright."

"Ok, We'll go and search for bikes then while you do... whatever you have to do." Aurora says while tucking her arm under mine to help support me.

"Ahem!" The two turn to look at me. "In case you haven't noticed, I can't really move properly at the moment so it would be easier if you searched for bikes without me." I state while gesturing towards my injured foot. "Besides, I have my axe that I can use if any zombies appear... And it'll give me time to come up with more axe puns!" I grin and bring out my axe. Aurora groans from beside me.
