"Don't! Please, no!" I yelled and broke down on my knees as Volpina dangled Adrien from the Eiffel tower.
I had no idea what to do. It was either I gave my miraculous, or I would see him plunge to his death. I was frozen inside, and I without even thinking for a split second, I reached out for my ears and started removing the earrings.
"Ladybug, don't listen to him!" Chat's green eyes fired up as he said those words. "It's just another illusion."
"I can't risk it, Chat," I cried out— my tears dribbling down my mask. "I can't risk him."
And with that, I fully removed my miraculous, and a wave of light shone upon me as I transformed back to my real self. I didn't look at Chat. He would be totally disappointed of what I had done, but I don't care. I would give up everything for Adrien. That's how much I love him.
With my eyes closed, I tossed the earrings towards Volpina as I fell down from the tower. Without my suit, I could no longer attach myself on the steel of the tower, so I just gave up and let myself fall. All in my mind was that Adrien would be safe.
"Ladybug!" I heard Chat scream, but I didn't mind. I just let gravity take over my body, and I waited for myself to hit the ground.
But I didn't.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Chat— holding me in his arms, kissing my forehead, "You're so stupid, love. I'm here."
I looked at myself, and I was in my normal clothes now.
"I knew it was you," Chat said, his bright smile utterly contagious.
"H-how?" I asked him.
"Let's just say I learn a lot whenever I come by your house," he smirked.
I looked up at the tower again without Volpina nor Adrien in sight.
My eyes widened as I cried, "Where's Adrien?"
"Wait, Marinette," Chat held me down as I cried once again on his chest.
"I'm so stupid!" I sobbed and pounded my fist on him. "I just gave up my miraculous, and Adrien is nowhere to be found. I just failed everybody."
He grazed his hand on my cheek— wiping out the tears with his thumb, "Don't worry, Princess. I'm here."
My eyes shut as green light emerged from his body. When I opened, I saw a boy— a pair of green eyes smiling back at me.
"Adri-... Adrien?" My tears started falling again.
"I'm sorry for not telling you any sooner," he caught my eye and held my hand.
I leaped and hugged him tight, "I can't believe it. My... my best friend is actually you."
He hugged me back, saying, "I know, I know. I can't believe my lady is actually you, too."
When we broke apart, I said, "Well, Paris has no hope now. Volpina has my miraculous, and you can't do it alone."
"What? You think I'm not cat enough to save Paris on my own?" he faked a pout.
"I'm just saying that I don't want you to do it on your own," I tapped his nose, and he smiled.
"Don't worry, my lady," he reached out for my hand. He slipped two stones in my palm.
It was my earrings.
I gasped, "How'd you—?"
"Again, that's how awesome I am," he laughed and transformed back to Chat Noir.
He extended his staff, and outstretched his hand, "So will you go save Paris with me now, Bugaboo?"
"Okay," I grinned and took his hand.
