C5. Stars and Ground

"What are we doing?"

You scowled as you followed Riko from behind. She shushed you and narrowed her brown eyes to you.

"Can you just shut up for a minute?"

"Why should i?" You pouted as you dragged your feet to the opposite way. But then, Riko quickly pulled you back and pinched your cheek as hard as she can. "Ouch! Let go!"

"I won't." She said but gradually letting go of your cheek as soon as she saw a glint of the colour blue. "Go talk to him."

You looked at Riko ridiculously as a response. It was impossible. You could've been humiliated. "No way, he just rejected me." You whispered.

"He's just a brat, you should be approaching him right now. Not just come up into a conclucion." She said rolling her eyes. Riko should've known that you need more time for this. So why?

You hesitated but if you didn't do it then you know what would happen. And so you started with your first step, second, third and so on. But you stop half way when bumped into someone. You apologized to him and continue your way. Then you realized you'd lost sight of him. You realized that you were looking on the ground all the time. Were you afraid? Of what?

You ran to the corridor, your breath became shorter and shorter. And you stopped to take your breath, you looked at your surroundings and sighed. What an unfortunate day. You couldn't find him, he'd probably gone home already.

Perhaps you should wait for tomorrow.

You panted as sweat dropped from your face. You felt messy, exhausted from running. The dribbling sound, shouting voices, the whistle, you ended up at the basketball court's entrance. What the hell were you doing?

"(Y/N)!"

You turned to the source and saw Kagami. He was waving your hand but you didn't do the same. You didn't look into his eyes nor do you even look at him. You were looking at someone from his back, his eyes were staring at you for a moment then at something else.

"Kagami." You smiled. He stared at you for a moment then sighed. "You're so hopeless (Y/N). What were you chasing for?"

And with that, you remained silent. Your gaze then turned back to where Kuroko was. "Why ask if you already know the answer?" You muttered unconciously. His lips turned into thin line, he wasn't smiling anymore. When you realized it, you blushed. It wasn't like you to say something like that so you apologized.

The next thing you know was Kuroko's presence in front of you. He was calling for Kagami since their practice game was about to start. But he didn't even speak a word to you. The moment he laid his eyes on you, he wasn't smiling. It was as though you'd made him mad.

And the day went by like any normal day you've always had. You haven't make any progress on Kuroko.

"(Y/N), why bother on Kuroko? You know you're wasting your time. He doesn't even remember you."

Riko words was piercing into you. She was right but.. "I think he knows me." You said as you hugged your knees, burying your face in it.

"Huh? What made you say that?"

"I don't know, it's a hunch."

"What kind of answer is that? If he knows then he would've talk to you by now." Riko said. She was right but at the same time not.

You got up and dust off my skirts, patting it. Then you sighed. "Riko, lets go home."

Riko had a complicated face on her. You didn't know whether it was guilty or curious or whatever but you could careless. Kuroko was like the stars that is hard to reach. As soon as you arrived, you took a short bath and laid on your comfy bed. You gazed at the ceiling, then you rolled on the bed.

You crumpled a piece of paper in your hand, then you get up and took another document in a file, your eyes fixated on it. It was from the nearest hospital. As you read them, your heart pounded two times faster. You immediately grabbed your phone and pressed a random number. Your breath was hitching, your eyes had formed tears. "(Y/N)? Hey, what's wrong? Are you crying?"

"Riko." You sobbed.

Until then, will he remember you?
