(Back to Rebekah's Point of View)

I grabbed the book which was heavier than it looked. I blew off the dust and put it onto my bed. The front cover had a crest on it that was etched in gold. Opening the book, I was greeted by the words, Immortal Beings, flipping to the first actual page, I saw weird creatures.

I starting reading:

Pixie

Often mischievous, known for pranking other students.

Fairy

Coming in all different heights and widths. Can be mistaken for a pixie. Fairies have bigger and more colorful wings than pixies.

The doorknob started rattling. I hurried and put the book back under my bed. Another girl wearing an identical uniform to me came in. She had layered brown hair that was quite short, and hazel eyes. She looked at me and smiled, revealing braces.

"Hi! I'm Victoria. And-" she paused and held her nose with her right hand, "what's that smell?"

      "I don't smell anything," I said, and I honestly didn't smell anything.

I heard Victoria whisper, "Smells of mortal."

      "What?" I asked.

"Oh, nothing. So, you haven't told me your name," she said, and she put her hand that was holding her nose to her side.

"I'm Rebekah. So, is it just me or are people at this school acting weird?" I asked, there's no harm in asking.

"Well, that's eighth grade for ya. This school is a bit weird, everyone gets taught the same thing, no matter whether you're in ninth, eighth, or seventh."

"So, when does first period start? I have Mrs. Manning."

"I have that class first period too. It starts in half an hour," Victoria paused, "have you had breakfast yet?"

"I could use some food," I said.

"Follow me," Victoria said, starting to walk out of the room.

"Okay," I got up and followed. Again we went through many twists and turns. This time though, we went up five flights of stairs. We came out onto the roof. In the middle of the roof was the bell/clock tower.

"Whoa! Can't someone just fall off the roof?" I asked.

"No, the roof is surrounded by bulletproof, transparent glass. Breakfast is over here," Victoria walked over to a machine, "What are you, Rebekah?"

"I don't know, the principal asked me that earlier," I said.

"Okay, I'll just do it based off of the rumor."

The machine looked like one of those high tech soda machines. Instead of soda names, it was written in a weird language that didn't use the English alphabet. It didn't look Chinese or Japanese, more of like a code. Victoria press a button and grabbed one of the plates right next to the machine and put it into the machine. Then, the plate came out the side with food on it. It was mushy red.

"Come, you can sit at my table," she said. She walked over to a blue table right next to the edge of the roof. There were a few other people there. David, a girl I had never seen before, and the boy who went to the tour. The girl had pale skin with light brown hair, she was taller than me. The boy had bad acne and red-brown curly hair. He wasn't chubby, but wasn't super skinny either, the dude kept giving me weird looks.
