Clary POV

It's about one in the afternoon now and Isabelle has finally woken up. How she only has a minor headache is a wonder to me. Luke has been blowing up my phone since last night wondering where I am and demanding me to get back home. When he texts me for the fifteenth time in seven minutes, Jace takes my phone.

I'm starting to protest when he starts reading some of the texts aloud. "'Clary where are you'? 'Are you even alive'? 'This isn't funny Clary'. 'Get your butt back home now.' 'I'm NOT kidding Clary'. 'Come. Home. Now'. 'Clarissa Adele Morgenstern, COME HOME NOW'." He looks at me with a slight smirk. "Your middle name is Adele?"

I roll my eyes as I stick my hand out for him to give me my phone back. He tosses it back to me as Isabelle starts singing "Hello" as to mock me. As Jace joins in I shake my head while glaring at both of them. As a way to play along, I send them the link to my favorite parody:

They both start laughing as they watch it and I laugh with it. "Is this what you watch every night?" Isabelle asks between laughs.

I shrug and Iz fills me in on what I missed with my blackout last night while Jace taps around with something on his phone. I'm just hearing about how we did some tabletop dancing when our phones buzz and we both burst out laughing. Apparently, Jace has spent the last twenty minutes photoshopping my face from an extremely dirpy picture onto the 25 album cover.

"Now that is some quality entertainment," Jace says as he laughs at the edit.

Once we've laughed at that, we start talking about whatever random shit comes to mind. Suddenly, the front door opens and a very excited Max wearing a soccer uniform and carrying a dirty soccer ball runs in and straight in front of Jace. "Jace you won't believe it! I scored a goal! Nick was kicking the kicking the ball in from the corner and I ran to the box and headed it right in! You should have seen it! Coach actually high fived me and I got to take the game ball home and--!"

"Hey hey," Jace says, beaming at the young boy and holding his shoulders lightly. "That's really awesome Max. I told you you'd like soccer once you started playing it."

I watch, smiling, at the two brothers talking as Max recounts every event from the game. Eventually, though, I end up falling asleep from the combination of the headache and grogginess. (This happened soooo many times my first hangover two years ago it was annoying. Yes, I had my first hangover when I was twelve. If you've never been to Wales and Ireland, you wouldn't understand.)

"Where is she?"

"Where is who?"

"Don't you pull this shit with me Morgenstern! Clarissa. Where is the girl?"

"She's at a friends house. You'll never get to her."

He laughs. "We'll see about that, Val."

"Don't you dare touch my sister!"

He chuckles yet again. "Aren't you a brave one, kid." A gun is cocked. "You'll be the first to die."

"No!"

"GET OVER HERE! NOW!"

My brother struggles as my mother cries out. "Stop this! You don't have to do this! Leave him be!"

A gun fires and a body slumps to the floor.

"You monster! He was just a child!"

"He would have grown up to be just like you Valentine. I was doing the world a favor."

"How dare you! That is my son you are talking about you bastard!"

"You could have avoided all of this Jocelyn. I gave you a warning, a chance to take your children and be safe. Instead you told him!"

"Because he is my husband! The father of my children! I would die before I would ever trust you!"

"So be it."

Another gun shot goes off and another body hits the ground.

"You bastard! You come into my home and kill my wife and son over what!? Something from twelve years ago that you can't seem to get over! You may think I ruined your life, but you did that yourself!"

"That is enough out of you. You ruined her life as well as mine."

"I made her happy. I gave her a life and family she could love. You are the one who has ruined her life. You've taken our son, her life, and soon to be her husband from her. But let me tell you this. You will never get a chance to take our daughter away from her."

"Too bad you won't be around to stop me."

A final gunshot goes off and a final body hits the ground.

I wake up screaming as I look around frantically, grabbing at whatever I can. Tears stream out of my eyes as I curl up into a ball. I can barely even tell when someone grabs onto my shoulders, steadying me.

"Clary, are you okay?" I look up and look into blue eyes. I break down in sobs as Alec pulls me into his chest.

"What's going on?" I hear Isabelle ask as she and Jace rush in.

"I don't know. Clary just woke up screaming. I think she had a night terror," Alec says as he runs a comforting hand over my hair.

Isabelle sits on the other side of me and hugs me. We stay there for five minutes before Iz speaks again. "Do you want to tell us what happened?"

I pull away and frantically shake my head. I start to panic when all of a sudden someone is in front of me, holding me hands and looking me in the eyes.

"This isn't the first one you've had. You had one in my car on Tuesday when we were coming back here, didn't you?" I nod slowly as I look at Jace and he sighs slightly. "You have to tell us what is wrong Clary. Maybe we can help or--."

I grab his phone and frantically type. No one can help this. It can't be changed, and I can't help the ghosts that haunt me. Please, just, let this be. I stare at all of them while they think of what I just asked them.

I end up getting home a little after 7:00 because the Ligtwoods invited me to eat dinner at their house. Once I get in, I see an angry Luke waiting. "Where the hell have you been Clarissa!?"

I flinch slightly. It feels weird. I've never flinched away from him like that. It must just be the headache.

Luke stares at me, completely enraged. "Are you hungover!? What the fuck are you thinking!? You completely disobeyed me just so you could go and get drunk!?" In my attempt to go to my room, Luke steps in front of me and grabs ahold of my arm. "You live in my house, you listen to me, Clary. I tell you to come home you get the fuck home!" I stare at him in shock, no doubt there's fear I can't explain why I have. "You really are your father's daughter," he says with such venom in his voice.

I rip my arm away and rush straight to my room, locking the door behind me. I pant slightly as I look at Tessa, who seems extremely disturbed right now. "What the fuck was that about?"

I look back at the door slightly. I have no idea.
