"Tell me what happened--every detail," Isabelle says as we sit at the table outside the cafe. After breakfast today Iz told me we were going to go to town to shop and get lunch. Somehow, while we were in a changing room at a local boutique, she looked at me and said 'you and Jace had sex last night, didn't you?'. I had stared at her and, upon seeing my confusion, continued to say 'you have the glow'. I managed to get her to agree to hold off on questioning me until we were at lunch. She agreed and now here we are.

Well, I begin to type, we came back to the house, walked in on Magnus on top of Alec having sex in the living room--

"TMI," Isabelle says with a look on her face. "If there's anyone's sex life I can go without knowing details about it's my biological brother's." I begin to type my response before she speaks her next thought. "Wait a second--Magnus tops? I always thought Mags was more of a bottom guy."

Jace thought the same.

"Yeah, well, great minds and all that," she says with a dismissive flip of her hair over her shoulder. "Now tell me about you and Jace."

Why do I have to tell you about my sex life?

"Oh come on," she almost pleads. "We're best friends and I'm excited for you." I raise my eyebrows to her as if to ask if she's serious. Sighing slightly, she leans towards me with her elbows resting on the table. "Okay, if I tell you something about my sex life will you tell me about last night?" I nod and Isabelle glances around slightly before leaning over the table a bit more.

"Sometimes during sex I call Simon Lord Montgomery."

I almost choke on my lemonade as I look at my best friend. Are you serious?

She nods confidently. "Sometimes when we really get into it he pretends I'm his maid."

Oh my god Iz I do not need to hear this.

"What's the big deal? We role play sometimes--so what?" She drinks a bit of her iced tea before clearing her throat slightly. "So, I've upheld my part of the bargain. Now tell me all about last night." And so I type out the basic details of last night to please Izzy seeing as she can basically sense everything about what happens to me and my life. "You guys did use a condom, right? You guys would make some hella cute babies but I'm not ready to be a godmother yet."

Don't worry, I tell her. We were sure to use protection. I don't think either of us are gonna ready for that anytime soon.

"Fantastic," she says before our food is delivered. We continue to chat as we eat before Isabelle's phone starts to buzz. She picks it up and reads the text. "Alec is wondering when we'll be back. Apparently they're setting up a movie night on the beach starting at 7:00."

What movie?

"Ummm," Izzy starts as she texts Alec back. "Alec thinks it's either Jaws or Cast Away."

Fantastic.

"I'll tell him we'll be back by 4:00. That way we have some time to go to one or two more stores." Usually I'd be complaining but I honestly don't mind that much. It's kind of like something changed in me after what happened last night. Once we're done with our lunch and have paid we walk down the street towards a store Iz wanted to check out. "So," she begins casually, "when are you gonna tell Jace you love him?" I look at her with wide eyes. How does she know all of my secrets? "Oh come on. It's not like you're one of those girls who just gives herself away to any guy. You're classy--you'd only ever be with a guy like that if you loved him and could see it going somewhere."

Okay you're right, I admit. I love him. I realized that a few days ago. It's just, I don't know. I don't feel right telling him that through a phone.

"You would want to say it in person," she clarifies. Once I nod Isabelle stops and places a hand on my shoulder. "While I think it's really sweet and romantic that you want to do it like that but I don't think Jace would care how you say it. He's completely smitten with you and anyone can see it. Just knowing you love him back would be the best moment of his life."

I grin slightly at the thought of Jace loving me before we continue to walk again. Isabelle stops me outside of vintage music store and we go inside to start shopping around. I look through all of the vinyls and cassettes, grabbing some vinyls here and there. Soon enough I have a Frank Zappa and the Mothers album and the Foster The People album Supermodel in my basket.

Izzy, seeing my Frank Zappa vinyl, asks, "Didn't he write a song about becoming a dental floss tycoon?"

You mean Montana, one of the best songs of the 70s?

"Yeah sure. Whatever you say." She looks at another Frank Zappa album cover. "Man this guy was weird."

Frank Zappa was a visionary. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't heard Muffin Man or Don't Eat the Yellow Snow.

"Clary," Isabelle starts, talking slowly, "he named his children Dweezil, Moon Unit, and Diva Muffin."

Kim Kardashian named her children North and Saint and Rob Kardashian named his daughter Dream. There's also Bear Payne and countless other celebrities who have given their children unusual names, I point out to her.

"True," she says reluctantly.

Suddenly a thought comes to me. Wait, didn't Frank Zappa have four children?

"Yeah; but Ahmet Emuukha Rodan Zappa is an awesome name," she concedes. "Are those the only ones you're buying?" I nod slightly before we go to the register and pay for our vinyls.

___

"Are you ready to go Clary?" Jace asks as he comes out of the bathroom. I nod as I finish zipping up my sweatshirt a bit. I giggle slightly as he comes up behind me and kisses my cheek. "You look great."

Thank you, I respond with a bit of a blush as I turn to face him. I wrap my arms around his torso as I bury my face into chest. Jace holds me close, his head resting on top of mine. We remain silent like that for a few minutes, more than satisfied with just each other's company.

"C'mon," he says softly before pulling away, rubbing his hands up and down my arms. "The movie's gonna be starting soon and we wanna get good seats." I nod in agreement before taking his hand and walking with him out of the room. We meet the others and grab our lounge chairs to set up once we've found a spot. We end up finding pretty good seats in the crowd and wait for a bit before The Truman Show starts to play.

"'Jaws or Cast Away' eh Alec?" Izzy asks her brother who sits a few feet away.

"I don't know some surfers told me," Alec replies.

I chuckle quietly as I settle into my chair, ready to watch a movie. About halfway through the movie Jace turns to me and grins. "How are you feeling about the vacation so far?" he asks quietly. I grin back at him before showing him my reply.

I feel like I'm in paradise.

AN

I give you two updates in one day because I both feel bad about not updating all summer due to technical difficulties and I'm on a writing spree today.

Since I haven't seen you guys all summer I'm gonna ask: how are you guys? Do anything fun this summer? No problems I hope. Have you started school yet?

I have; and let me tell you history has turned into my favorite class this week. That is because we started our American History unit with the election of 1800 and MY TEACHER FLIPPING PLAYED HAMILTON. He played a lyric video of "The Election of 1800" with some questionable fan art on it of A Dot Ham in squished between A Dot Burr and Jefferson with suggestive looks on their faces saying "choose". It was great. I was rocking out, my friend was rocking out, absolutely amazing.

So now is the time when I warn you that this story is coming to an end. Next chapter they'll be back in New York and after that it will be one more chapter, maybe one more, and then the epilogue. I've had the entire end planned out for a while; but the fun part is that you don't know if I'm planning on making her speak or not.

MUAHAHAHA
