exploding organs?

As soon as Ashton was admitted, I found out he needed emergency surgery. My baby wasn't just sick, his appendix had ruptured and was poisoning his body.

His mom and the boys were on their way. Ashton was in surgery now and would be out in the next hour.

I was tearing up because that was my world right there whose getting surgery and I couldn't do anything to take away his pain.

"Mordecai, sweetheart, what happened?" Anne Marie asked concerning my.

"I came over in the afternoon to help him get better and he was complaining about his stomach aching. He was running a really high fever yet he was covered with chills. He woke up in the middle of the night and ran to the bathroom. He threw up and there was blood in it which rally concerned me." I said with worry overflowing in my tone and on my face. This whole thing had everyone shook up because Ashton was always the happy one that helped people and now he needed us. We all needed to be there for him.

"What did the doctor say?"

"He has appendicitis and he should be out in about 30 minutes." I said trying to calm myself down.

Anne marie lunged forward and held me in a tight hug. i could feel the tears roll down my cheek as a cloud of relief flooded my body. i tried my best to comfort Anne because this was, indeed, a major surgery. 

The only other surgery Ashton has had was his wisdom teeth removed which I had to get in two weeks, right after graduation.

Anne wanted me to see him first and then she would come in.

When I went in, he laid there sleeping. His thick wavy hair was tousled everywhere and he laid limp. He appeared so fragile as he laid in that hospital gown with all those instruments hooked up to him. 

I slipped my hand into his and he lightly squeezed it. He developed a faint smile and opened his eyes. 

"Hey," I greeted him and ran my hand over his forehead and through his hair, trying to soothe him. "How are you feeling?"

"Loopy." He said and then ended in giggles. the giggles ended short when he hinched over and clutched his stomach.

"Take it easy, baby." I said in a soft tone while raking my hands through his hair.

"When can I go home?" He asked with the saddest look.

"Uhh, I don't know but I know the surgeon that removed your appendix is supposed to check in with you in a few." I answered.

He just nodded and laid back on the pillow, closing his eyes and exhaling largely. 

"I'm gonna go get your mom now. she was worried about you and wanted me to see you first." I continued as I walked towards the door.  

"I love you." 

"I love you too." That little sentence made my day and I hope that it has the same effect on Ashton.

When I peeked my head out the door, everyone sitting outside, looked up quickly. 

"How is he?" Calum piped in first.

"He is awake but currently coming off the anesthesia so he's loopy." I informed them.

I noticed Mikey's hair was a vibrant purple now.

"Hey Mikey, I like your hair." I said with a smile and he subconsciously ran his hand through his hair.

"Thanks."

Everyone was deep in thought, I guess trying to process what the fuck just happened to our sunshine.

That night, we got to take Ashton home.

Anne wanted me to watch him and help her with the kids which of course I was fine with.

My parents were home and offered to help Anne if she needed anything.

"Ashton, you need to take a shower."

"Whyyyy?" He wined.

"Because it'll make you feel better." 

"I'll take a shower if you join me."
