"I winked," I deadpanned to no one but myself. I stared blankly at the computer and ran my fingers through my hair, "why in god's name did I wink at him." A blush fought it's way over my entire face.
I haven't felt like this since eight grade when I accidentally called the most popular guy in school hot, only to find out he was standing right behind me.
I sighed and shut my laptop. Even with Caleb gone, I couldn't get a single word written. You'd think writing for a newspaper would be easy, but when you've got someone like Peter on your mind it gets pretty difficult.
I stared at the computer monitor and sighed.
I rolled over to my nightstand and grabbed my phone. "Hello?" Mile's gruff voice answered.
"Are you free? Caleb started daycare and-"
"-I'll be right over." He answered quickly like it was the most important mission in the entire world.

MIle's appeared at my door with starbucks and krispy kreme. Bless his heart.
"May I be granted entrance?" He spoke deeply as he stroked his thick beard before bursting into a fit of obnoxious laughter. He quickly composed himself and offered a cup of the coffee and the box of donuts.
I chuckled and grabbed the sugary treats from his hand and allowed him inside. "You may, sir Miles."
We took a seat at the island and quickly dug into the donuts. "About a week ago I meet this super cute, probably single dad. His kid loves me, and Caleb doesn't seem to have any problems with him. So today I make a complete fool of myself...I winked at him."
Miles tried to suppress laughter, but soon burst into it clutching desperately at his sides. "Aw, ain't that just the cutest thing since a sneezing panda." He took a long sip from his coffee, "it''s clear what you have to do."
I chomped into my donut, "hmm?"
He grinned, "you set up a cute little play date between your kids as an excuse, but very valuable social opportunity for the kids, to get close to that hot dad."
I nodded slowly as I shoved the rest of the donut in my mouth, "I think I will." I spoke with my mouth full. I grabbed my keys and dragged Miles out to my car with me.
My heart was racing. I had to admit, I kind of liked it.
